Well there's plenty of good recommendations here to remedy that!

I've been meaning to pick up Si On Avait Besoin D'Une Cinquième Saison for awhile now. That might be my next purchase.

Hmmm ... Harmonium or more NEARfest music? What a dilemma ...

I'm buying plenty of NF music myself right now so I know your dilemma but I'd seriously recommend Harmonium - Si On Avait Besoin D'Une Cinquième Saison. It's fantastic.

Hopefully I'll see you at NF.

Yeah, hope to meet you there! Maybe we should wear nametags with our PE and PA usernames, instead of our real names!

Damn there are so many, but I'll be dishing out a few faves of mine who also happen to be somewhat obscure and in dire need of somebody out there listening to them once in a while. Music is like that..:

Pick oneLOL
Seriously though - I would have a very hard time singling out which one I think is the 'best' among these albums. All of them are special to me in their own way. Heldon's Stand By means the world to me - and I'd love to go out swinging to that album.
Anywho - I've probably forgotten about a fair few artists here - oh yeah now that I think of it: Magma and Jean Cohen-SolalEmbarrassed

Eskaton is the best french language french band I've heard. You could seriously throw a dance party with 4 visions and cause mass concussions by the end of it trying to keep up. I need to listen to the rest of these. Is there a decent channel to find/purchase them? I've had to 'obtain' several because they aren't even out anymore, including the aforementioned Eskaton.
Pharmaceutical Band Names: Edematous Ratheads, The Formulations, Test Bunny, The Approval Board, The Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory Band, Sterile but Unstable, and finally, Almost Music by Pfizer

As many have already mentioned  the franch-languaged aspect excludes plenty of favorites. No Magma, Igor Igor Wakhevitch, Art Zoyd, Zao, Lard Free, Cos, Moving Gelatine Plates  mm... either sings in other or made up languages, wordless vocals, just grunts or doesn't sing at all.

Eskaton , Ange, Catherine Ribeiro, Brigitte Fontaine, Gerard Manset...  can't decide yet.

Vive le quebecois! Harmonium.

The Gainbourg's Melody Nelson is probably the best french pop prog album. Duffard and Fontaine are not far. Maybe the first Dick Annegarn's album and the Katerine's "Les Creatures" belong here two.

I just listened to the new Ange album, Moyen-age, a couple of times, and though it's a bit different than their old stuff, I would probably rank it among their best albums, Guet Apens and Au-Dela Du Delire, it's that good. It has a near 50 minute suite on it, and that's not even the entire album, though the suite is broken down into 8 tracks.

this one is a good contender:

unfortunately one of the best tracks on the album (Crystal Palace) has not been uploaded to YouTube yet. this album is one of my favorites of all time; I even love a song like the heavy rock 'n roll number "22 Broad Street"

Heard it a couple of times as well. I find it a bit of a letdown after the previous album.

Really, I didn't really like their last album much at all. To each their own I guess. But maybe I just need to listen again, thoughI really love this new one.
