A radio performance ... same tour as the above album, very different track lineup. Some great updated verisons of some classic songs (like Change). Pretty good sound quality!

Let's All Be Composers ! (trfzb)

Just follow these simple instructions :

1. Declare your intention to create a 'composition'.

2. Start a piece at some time.

3. Cause something to happen over a period of time (it doesn't matter what happens in your 'time hole' - we have critics to tell us wether it's any good or not, so we won't worry about that part).

4. End the piece at some time (or keep it going, telling the audience it is a 'work in progress').

5. Get a part-time job so you can continue to do stuff like this.

Onto the 90s stuff ... after Curt left the band and Roland took full charge. This is my least favorite album by Tears for Fears, but it's still got some good stuff on it (Elemental, Break It Down Again, Brian Wilson Said, Goodnight Song)

Continuing the Tears for Fears marathon...

I've been listening chronologically by track, not by album, so this album (which collects lots of b-sides and other curiosities) has been scattered throughout so far. I'm on the last few tracks so far.

Listening to this album, and a fair number of the bands non-singles, it becomes obvious that TFF are a band who were always trying new things.

The Tears for Fears marathon moves on to the second album without Curt Smith...

This one is great, almost as good as the bands classic 80 albums or their 2004 reunion album. It also represents a change in direction (as most of their albums do), focussing more on guitars and with more spanish influences.

After splitting from TFF, Curt remained musically active. Unfortunately, I don't have his first solo album, but I do have this one. It's actually pretty good.

The band name is also a pretty silly pun that kind of indicates that yeah, this basically is just Curt solo. The band name Mayfield is a pun on Curtis Mayfield's name; that is, Curt is Mayfield.

Moonflower Plastic (Welcome to My Wigwam) - Tobin Sprout

A truly well-written record by the ex-Guided By Voices guitarist.

Crossing into the 00's - Roland Orzabal releases a new album, but under his own name instead of the TFF name. This one goes the opposite direction of Raoul - less guitars, more electronics.

Interesting note - my copy is a Japanese version that, for some reason, came in an extra-fat jewel case. Think maybe an extra 25% thickness. It's the only CD I've ever seent hat's like that.

I've always thought Tears for Fears were underrated...  Glad somebody else agrees
