I know I have all the 70's and I think one Wishbone Ash from the 80's. Have to check. All on vinyl or cassette except for Paranoid on CD.

All 1970's Sabbath and Zeppelin, no Wishbone. Come to think of it, I don't know that I've ever heard them - I've certainly heard of them, but no songs come to mind.

I did have all the Led Zep albums apart from Coda, which was more of a left-overs thing anyway, 2 by Wishbone Ash, and 2 by Black Sabbath, got these all in the eighties, I was only a wee pup in the 70's you know!

Black Sabbath: I had (and have) Black Sabbath, Paranoid, Master of Reality, Vol IV, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath, and Sabotage, so first half of the 70s. Got tired of them after that, but still enjoy listening to the first 5 of these.
Led Zeppelin: I had (and have) I, II, III, IV, Houses of the Holy, Physical Graffiti, so again, first half of the 70s. Heard Presence, but didn't like it so much, so never bought it. Still love hearing these first 6 albums.
Wishbone Ash: I had Argus and There's the Rub. Liked but never loved. Still enjoy listening to Argus from time to time. Warrior is catchy.

As of, say 1975:
Black Sabbath: I had the first four.
Led Zep: Had 'em all.
Wishbone Ash: Had the first four.
Sabbath and Wishbone Ash I lost interest in but never Zep.

I would never have regarded either of those bands as prog rock in the 70s, and still don't.
By the end of the 70s, I would have owned: all Zeppelin, eight Wishbone Ash, and zero Sabbath.
These days, on CD, I have: all Zeppelin's studio albums, four Wishbone, zero Sabbath.

Wow, kind of narrows the number of prog-rock collectors. I think there are fans out there who own the discographies of all three but absolutely HATE progressive rock.
I own all the Zep albums, then again every teenager owned them all when I was a kid. I dig the first three Sab albums but can't say I really like anything after. And Wishbone Ash? Yawn.....the Argus album is really all I need but I can't say I even own a copy anymore.

That's about it I think. And the Sabbath one I bought cheap. |
I had all the Zep and Sabbath albums they released in the 70s, but only one Wishbone Ash album. However the statement in the OP does reflect my collecting habits and those of my friends. I didnt write that piece though...

Sabbath I have the first 2. I had the first 4 but time has eroded where the 3rd and 4th went.
LZ I have all but Coda and i have no interest in buying it.
Ash I had the first three then the Live album. Have another 2 from the recent tours. Argus i have the US vinyl version which is mixed differently than the UK version , the Uk vinyl, the cd and the enhanced cd with live tracks on it. The first album remains one of my favourite albums of all time.

Hi,
I was up to date on Led Zeppelin ... the other two were not worth the effort or the waste of money!
