LOL

I popped by this thread originally just to share my disdain for rap and hip-hop, but this signature made me laugh coffee out of my nose all over my keyboard! Nice work!

I thoroughly enjoy the underground more intellectual breed of hip hop/rap. But if you are referring to mainstream ganster rap, I have a deep loathing for it as it helps spread a cultural aspect that generally produces ego-centric ignorant avariciously hedonistic sex and violence obsessed adolescents enamoured with a materialistic false - masculine image. But in terms of what sounds the worst: probably regaetton in 1st, country in 2nd, and emo/scene whatever in 3rd, most techno 4th. Pop can be pleasing for a half second in a song, occasionally. Oh to hell with it. I can't really decide which genre I would take pleasure in seeing burning in hell first. Quite an excellent thread for petty emotional catharsis of anger, I would say. Thanks.

I'm surprised at all the hate for country. I don't own a country album, but don't you have any respect for Johnny Cash? The worst genre of music should have no redeeming features whatsoever.

Great stuff LOL

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UYMuEWb_KJs > Dutch pop like this is another thing that I can't stand. And it's popular too, to the extent that songs/albums like this hit the number one spot Cry

Do you like both country music and urban pop about women with big butts? Wish there was a way to listen to both at once? Your prayers have been answered:

I present Trace Adkins' incomparable Honky Tonk Badonkadonk.

(Dead) House and all that Censored tunz-tunz music. The real problem is that in Italy this genre is really popular!

You're lucky! I mean, that is if House is Daft Punk, Justice, Supermen Lovers, Stardust and the like.

I don't want to dismiss genres. I find it a little ironic that an "open-minded" progger would just dismiss a whole genre/sub-genre of music.

I can think of a number of rappers that I like for example and few of them are in the mainstream. Some are even, say it quietly, progressive/experimental. Take a listen to Sage Francis for a good example - the stuff is pure poetry.

There doesn't seem to be R&B on the list noticeably (Not like Blues Brothers rhythm and blues, modern rap/pop crossover). Again, I can't really dismiss it all - I think Justin Timberlake, Beyoncé and a couple of others are very good at it. However 90% is clearly garbage.

The worst sub-genre of music of all time is probably "crunk-core" - that's the only one I can think of that is inexcusable on every level. Rap and Screamo metal should never ever, ever be mixed quite clearly.

Every genre on that list has some redeeming features/artists.  People can like Johnny Cash and still hate most country music

Actually, It's not that kind of House music... there are lots of Italian Djs who aren't really good... And, you know, if you are constricted to listen to that music all the time EVERY DAY... well, it's quite hard to resist.

I would agree on the broad genres that people have been saying, such as country, metal, and rap, but I have no problem saying that nothing good can be written within the framework of smooth jazz, post-grunge, and pop-punk, because those are narrow enough definitions that I can say that the tenets of those subgenres are inherently deeply flawed, so in order to fit the criteria of being in that genre, you have to write a bad song.

whats with the Rap hate? i can understand not liking main stream stuff like 50 cent or Kanye West but there are some legitimately good rap albums. and the difference between rap and hip hop is obvious.

Rap               Hip Hop

hip hop, at least to me, is R&B or something very close to it. club dance stuff
rap is rap.

In general calling an entire genre worthless is just stupid, but if i had to chose itd be R&B/Hip Hop. although main stream pop like Lady Ga Ga, Fergie and the Jonas Brothers is fit to make me lose my lunch and is a close second.
