I would extend that and say "as long as they can appreciate beauty in, or feel happy about,  any aspect of their lives, I don't feel sorry for them" If they are not exactly musical, but they are happy, isn't it more important?

Though I'm sure music (of any kind) always helps create some feelings of happiness. But aynway, you get my idea.

That's true.

Just a little reminiscing.

I remember a concert I went to where I found the music so beautiful that I was in utter bliss during the performance. It got a standing ovation.  A girl I went with talked later about how she felt nothing during the performance and didn't "get" what was special about it.  I did feel kind of sorry for her at the time because she hadn't felt any of the rapture that I had felt.  She wasn't a music lover, and I don't really know if she really appreciated beauty at all, erm, other than my hot bod LOL.

I remember once being asked about art (paintings), and I playfully said that the only paintings I could appreciate were the ones with dogs playing poker.  "You have my pity then" was the response.

Some people simply don't care for music. For quite some time I used to think "their loss", but ultimately I realized that that's wrong ... they really don't care, there's nothing to gain for them from listening to music.

So, rather than thinking "their loss" I focus on what *I* can gain from listening to music.

Not really

I mean, why should I feel sorry for them? Its their choice to listen to what they want. If they get enjoyment out of it, who am I to say its wrong?

LOL  You are probly right - once people name The Nice, Audience, Van der Graff Generator, Hawkwind and Peter Hammill solo they'll probably struggle to think of the lesser known ones like Robert J Godfrey, Bo Hansson, Capability Brown, Rare Bird and Jackson Heights; then they'll have to start naming all the non Prog artists like Monty Python, Lindisfarne and Clifford T Ward Wink

Hipgnosis wasn't a label, and they did/do plenty of non-prog album covers.
What?

I suspect they would put you in a giant pot and then gobble you up (assuming they eat their greens that is)

I listen to pop.
I'll guess I'll meet you on your mission.

And when we meet up, we can talk about Planetary Duality by The Faceless.
And while we're at it, we can talk about The New Reign and A Higher Place if you want, I've become a pretty big fan of Born Of Osiris since I first heard them about 3 months ago.

While we are on that, Toto are a more talented bunch of musicians than some prog rockers.

Lol, the point simply was that this "they" may not and in fact would not necessarily be missing out just because they don't "get" prog.

They'll all be sorry when that happens and probably won't see it coming. Tongue
