As we speak that's technically true about Posh - for the first time ever, I'd guess...

It's not that I can't find worth in anything, it's just that I can't find worth in enough.

Probably Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (Smashing Pumpkins) or Yoshimi Battles the Pink Robots (the Flaming Lips). Possibly either of The Cranberries' first two albums.

Well shoot, are we counting Bjork, The Flaming Lips, The Smashing Pumpkins and Arcade Fire as pop too? Add them to my list as well.

Medulla is definitely not pop as far as I'm concerned.

Smashing Pumpkins stretches the definition of pop a bit too far I think Stoney. My sister was a huge fan, so I've heard most of their stuff countless numbers of times, always came across as alt rock more than anything.

Too many to mention, really. I do love Matchbox Twenty's Mad Season a lot.

Pfft. Pop vs. rock. MEH. Not prog + popular music = pop to me.

I'm going to stick a brand new album up here...
The new full-length from IMOGEN HEAP - Ellipse.
What a great piece of thoughtful, contemporary avant-pop music.

I have a few favorite pop rock (key word: rock) albums, but one that immediately springs to mind is: This isn't straight up pop, it's alternative rock, but it qualifies as a "pop album" because it was popular, dur...anyway, IMO, it's a masterpiece of alt rock. And it's one of the few albums where I've thoroughly enjoyed each track.

Nothing wrong with this! And at least it IS POP (Unlike Arcade Fire me thinks) so good pick!!
BUT tucking cricket jumpers into plus fours is DUBIOUS.

No love for ABBA yet? I must admit I used to like Arrival a lot … but today songs like When I Kissed the Tiger and I am the Teacher not only bore me, but downright annoy me. Though I still think No More Pee, No More Pooh is a good song.
Does Sting count? If so, my pick is The Dream of the Blue Turtles. It’s probably too close to prog, though.

Your largesse is gracious sire, but it's a heinous crime punishable by a future spent going round the cabaret circuit. (The Musicians Hell) I dug this critter out today and gave it a spin and it's still a damn nifty pop record notwithstanding the creators couture atrocities. Who can fail to love a song called Lemon Fire Brigade for pity's sake ?

If there's laffs to be had then they're on me
But no, I love good Pop and this is as good as it gets in my book; I also love fine production and Andy Hill did a superb job on all BF's songs; When We Were Young is a great 4 minute pop-prog epic; And yes, Sinfield wrote Land Of Make Believe, not that I'm a fan of his lyrics (especially after what he did to PFM on Photos Of Ghosts and The World Became The World).
...and I had a crush on Cheryl Baker in the 80s
Credibility? who needs it?
