I'll download if it is cheap and I cannot find the CD at a reasonable price. Otherwise I don't mind spending 10 to 15 dollars on a CD

Sometimes I will buy CDs but mostly I will just buy the vinyl. That way I can rip the vinyl over to my computer and enjoy in MP3 and on my turntable. I usually look out for whichever option is cheaper, CDs or vinyl. More often than not the vinyl is cheaper. And of course there is that experience of buying a vinyl that I never really experienced, considering I was born in the 90's!

This has been my mantra as well, but now I have my Itunes store open and I'm wondering whether to finally buy the Trili albums there... Goes against my principles but it's pretty much the only way, damnit. We'll see how it turns out. edit: I did it... Feeling kind of sick and dirty...

I always buy albums on cd and have never bought a download. I will download though for samples and such. One issue I have with IPods and harddrives is all your music is in one pot. If my cd palyer breaks down use another or if the cd is faulty put another on but with IPods you do the lot in one hit. When I travel a discman is better for me as if the discman breaks down I can just pick up another but if the IPod does it you have lost all your music with it and have to wait to re format it or whatever and download the songs back into it. One other moan while I am in form
![]() My youngest though is the complete reverse to me and she is right into downloading but she only listens to singles primarily. Old burnt cds everywhere with no names or anything on them. She is organised

I try to avoid downloading music, but I will download if I can't find it in stores or if its too pricey on amazon. It is usually quite rare that I do end up downloading however.
I usually buy CDs, listen to music on last.fm, or trade CDs with my friends and upload music onto Itunes. And TC, I also had a CD player for a long time. I got an Ipod for Christmas and I've since transferred over to that for the most part. ![]() |

^ in the "old days" you couldn't take your whole collection with you anyway. Today, if you want a backup ... get yourself a cheap mp3 stick with 4GB. Then if you iPod breaks (which is unlikely anyway), you'll still have some dozen albums.

No, they are not available from Brazil. In fact, we have few legal choices for buying music in MP3 here, except Brazilian music, of course. |

I still buy CD's and Vinyls too.
I don't believe in the death of physical records. They are propably going to be less popular in the future, but they are not going to disappear completely. |

I only download the stuff which i wouldn't pay for- like the lonely island and stuff.
I buy CDs because i enjoy browsing in stores and the 'physical' artwork. I mean iTunes is also great cause you can get stuff you wouldn't get in shops.

I buy CD's, but only because most dowloads, even legal, aren't offered in lossless formats. If I could buy FLAC files, I'd much rather do it that way.

Yes. I hate how a freakin MP3 file costs as much as an actual disc with liner notes AND the same MP3 files.
If it's free, however, I will download it. ![]() |

Though not directly related to the topic and poll, one thing's for sure I haven't been buying CDs like I used to due to budgetary reasons and I'm running out of space to keep them. Didn't get a damn thing last month. I decided to treat myself to the new Phideaux and try a Discipline album this month (thanks again Phideaux for the recommendation).
This year - 23 titles so far. 2008 - 60 2007 - 114 2006 - 104 2005 - 123 2004 - 133 2003 - 98 2002 - 83 2001 - 110 2000 - 94 Wasn't tracking before mid 1999. Looks like 2004 was my banner year. ![]() |

I hate how people claim that an MP3 album costs as much as an actual disc. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002EHTSKU/ref=dm_sp_alb ![]() |

I will continue to buy CD's, if only for the reason that a sufficiently big collection of music just would need too much space to be stored on a computer, though of course the capacity of hard disks is increasing more and more. But I actually prefer to use the hard disk space for programs, not for storing music..
I have to admit though that collecting the music on shelves requires a lot of shelf space meanwhile. And last but not least I am a physical person. I like toi hold the cover of an album in my hand and take a look at it. Cover art will actually die out completely should MP3s replace CDs completely. Most probably even the album format will die out too; artists will just upload their latest recordings. Some may like that; I don't. |

^ I don't think that album cover art will die ... it is always useful to promote the music, which has always been its primary function. Good cover art can attract new listeners in a record store as well as on a website.

If MP3s become the single or at least main medium for music, then there won't be any albums anymore, and hence no cover art.
