If it does end in 2012, I sure hope Rush releases a new album beforehand- I'll die happy.

Damn, if we were just 100 years ahead it could end in 2112. That'd be a coincidence speaking of Rush.

it's ok, the album will be a prequel to 2112, and will be their most progressive album. it'll be called "12212012"

King Crimson should hold a concert that day btw. Then release it as a live album afterwards (when we're still here) and call it "21st Century Schizoid Man On The 21st"

actually i think that date is when Prog Rock is accepted into the mainstream, new trendy prog bands break out, and the new Dream Theater hits #1 on the charts, and stays at #1 for 5 weeks

then the world explodes...

So far as I see it then, the Yellowstone supervolcano will erupt, the resultant earthquake will make all superpowers fall onto their big red "NUCLEAR ARSENAL DO NOT PUSH THIS BUTTON" buttons, the risen Christ will emerge from the ocean on Atlansis's roof (thus proving Pallas almost right, dammit ) and the owner of a small deli in downtown Chicago will reveal himself to be the b*****d son of Elvis Presley and Nostradamus (a crossbreed made possible by an accident with DNA and a time machine) & say "I told you so"

Could be an interesting front page of The Times, then

Next question.

Agreed. It's only the abbreviated long count that ends in 2012 anyhow, not the full one.

See the part about the higher order cycles. 2012 would have been a huge clebration for the Myans like a millennium party, not a doomsday event.

The idea that the long count runs out in 2012 and it'll be doomsday was an idea cooked up by some baked hippies back in the 60s.

Of course not, everyone knows the world will end in 2036.

I hope we all get to see KC live again. I don't think money is an issue with it, it all depends on the mood Fripp is and if he wants to deal with it all again. We're more likely to see him go solo again rather than in an Crimson incarnation.

Perhaps I should write Fripp a letter giving him details on the importance of a KC concert.I can't imagine he receives many fan letters involving KC and the apocalypse.Anyhow about the cults, that's quite a worry this surely is going to be a huge day/year on a cults calendar.I hope nothing comes of it.

He had a response on DGM website last week to a posting about KC playing in a park.

Geez when Robert looks outside his window doesnt he ever think, jeez what a beautiful day today i feel like playing.

Yes.

Lets call the crim crew and set up a few small gigs and play at a park or something.

No

I hardly think it's the end of the world if Robert Fripp has something better to do than play gigs.

On no. Not until we get personal jet-packs, flying cars, dehydrated water, ray guns, space elevators, teleporters, wrist-watch communicators, X-Ray specs that actually work... Once we get all those, then the world can end, but not before. Stern Smile

No need to worry.

I have it on good authority that the disaster foretold in the Mayan calendar is Poland organising the 2012 Euro footbal championship.

I've done some reading about this in the past. The chance is pretty small, but even if it were to strike earth, I'm being optimistic that we'd have technology that could somehow have a gravitational pull and direct the asteroid away from earth.
