Antoine, a local radio host gave the perfect scenario. Contact Bill Cowher and ask him who he'd like to work with as a GM. Schmooze that guy and (eventually) kick out Carl Peterson in favor of him, and bring on Cowher. Cowher used to be a coach on Marty Schottenheimer's staff and probably wouldn't work for Carl.

In my opinion, our GM is the problem. He's been here 20 years and hasn't peed a drop. He really needs to go.

E

Hey now.  Get your mind off of Cowher.  He's ours I tell you.  The Lions need him worse than the Chiefs.  Maybe it has been 38 years, but at least the Chiefs' name appears in the winners column of Super Bowl champions.

I guarantee that the Chiefs' will not lose today.OK, it's our bye week, but I guarantee that we WILL NOT LOSE!

I did see on ESPN that Tony Gonzales is interested in a trade. Can't say that I blame him. Guy has worked is tail off for over 10 years and has barely sniffed the playoffs.

But E, I see that the Bye is favored by 10 1/2 over the Chiefs. Wink  The Vikings are favored by 13 1/2 over the Lions.  That is pretty unprecedented in the NFL.  It is pretty rare that you see a team favored by 2 touchdowns, although the Redskins are 14 point favorites over the Rams.  The sad part is that I really can't see the Rams or the Lions beating the spread.

0-5. At least we have a win. Embarrassed

That safety was hilarious. He was a good 5 feet out in the back of the end zone.

Local programming had on the Dallas/Arizona game and wasn't expecting much. Man, that turned out to be a good ball game. I'll still never understand why teams call a time out right before the kicker kicks a field goal. Arizona would've had egg all over their face if they hadn't pulled it out in overtime.

Sadly, that safety wound up being the difference in the game; although The Vikings ran out the last minute of the clock in order to kick the field goal, rather than go for the touchdown, so it is possible that they would have won anyways.

It'll be interesting to see if there is any fallout with the officiating.  The Lions truly got hosed in yesterday's game.  I was listening on the radio to our homer announcers, but they were quite furious when the officials didn't overturn the Calvin Johnson's fumble call when the Lions requested a review.  According to them, both his knee and his head hit the ground before the ball came out; on Talk Radio this morning someone called in and said that the ball had been knocked loose when Calvin was hit and that is why they called it a fumble, but then they said that he still had both hands on the ball when he hit the ground.  I think that call probably cost the Lions at least a field goal.

The big call that they were complaining about though was the pass interference call that led to Minnesota's game winning field goal.  Minnesota had 2nd and 20, and according to the announcer the contact was the type that happens on 90 percent of the plays that never gets called.  Especially in key situations near the end of the game.  Again, I didn't see it, but the homer announcers went on for the next 5 plays complaining about that call and kind of forgot to announce the rest of the game.

On the Talk Radio this morning a caller said that the officials blew 3 big calls, but I am not sure what the 3rd call was.  Oh well, I guess on the "bright" side the chance to go 0 and 16 is still alive.  Might as well do something that nobody else has ever done before.

^^Believe me, Scott. I shouldn't be talking smack. 1-4 is no great accomplishment. Team is playing like a bunch of geldings right now.

The officials ruin the game. I don't know about the Lions' game, but I thought Romo fumbled in the end zone on the Dallas/Arizona game. That stupid tuck rule is laughable. That was a fumble. Period.
