Gong included excellent musicians including Steve Hillage who was (is?) a great guitarist. They did not always release great material as Gong. For example, Steve's Fish Rising album with Gong as his backing band is a great album. They did have a sense of humour and were a bit weird.

I love Gong's trilogy. Camembert may be unequal in quality but it has some tracks sound as if they had just come out nowadays.
Gong is DYNAMITE !

The "stupid lyrics" are what is so great about Gong - my kids love 'em! PS - What do you think is the best Gong track of all?

The "stupid lyrics" is kinda refreshing from all the usual seriusness goin on in the prog world. And usualy they are pretty fun. Maybe not Laugh Out Loud fun but they do put a smile on my face.

I've been knowing Gong for years:Gazeuse is one of my favourites alongside with You,Angel egg........
I also dig other projects such as Fish Rising or Rainbow Dome Music by Steve Hillage.I've always
enjoyed their funny side and chops, also the hippie feel which is not outdated.I was in Amsterdam in
2006 for their Unconvention:it was great fun with Acid Mothers Gong,Gong and Steve Hillage.

I wasn't that impressed with the first of the Radio Gnome Invisible trilogy. It had its quirks but it isn't something I could ever listen to on a regular basis. I just listened to the third part last night though, and holy crap! I was not expecting that. Unfortunately the weird quirkiness which brings down the first two songs aren't present at all in Master Builder or a Sprinking of Clouds which turned out to be amazing. I'll give the album a couple more listens and see if the non-epic (?) songs grown on me or not.

Steve Hillage's 'Live Herald' is one of the best live albums I have ever heard. The guitar playing is from outer space!
To all fans of the Radio Gnome invisible trilogy, I recommend the 90's Gong album, 'Shapeshifter'. It is incredible and surprisingly accessible.
I also like the 'Acid Mothers' album but I think this album might alienate some people who are not as open to something a bit wild and different.

I have enjoyed Gong since hearing Angels Egg in 76 but I find I really appreciate them when I am in that "Oily Way" myself.
