man, in my experience girls I like tend to refuse to interact with me any more when I show them Alamaailman Vasarat, Magma or Captain Beefheart, heh wonder why? But I am taking a girl to the Homecoming dance at my school who is into Yes, Dream Theater, Pain of Salvation, Spocks Beard, ELP and most importantly Hawkwind!

I take it from the age field in your profile that she's not as young as she looks?

I love my girlfriend also. I won't marry Her, since I'm not a believer, both church or state; neither is she. Plus, I don't care about gorgeous or hot, she is clever, bright, sensitive, a very good reader. I do think she is the cutest and all, but those things vanish with time. ¿Wanna know how truly is your love?. Gain some weight, you or her.

Resurrecting a semi old thread
To all the ladies on the forum: any idea why girls seem to only like/go after total assholes? It's really annoying, and several of my friends have been affected by such situations |

Thatguy: I think it largely has to do with visibility. Who're you more likely to notice, a nice guy or an asshole? And who're you going to crush on, someone you have or haven't noticed? Another possibility: Assholes believe they're the greatest thing since sliced bread, and that belief gets projected to people around them. Most assholes have friends after all... least, the kind you're talking about do. There is such a thing as the lonely asshole, but they don't in general have girlfriends, so I'll leave them out for the moment. Confidence is a great attractor, and most of all, it implies that they have something to be confident about. Whether or not they do may be an entirely nother matter, but in the social world, it's perceptions that matter, not reality. (Until/unless reality smashes the false perceptions, of course.) I don't think it's as widespread a phenomenon as everyone seems to think, though. Once again with the visibility, you only notice the things that seem out of place to you: you notice the assholes because a) they make themselves noticed, and b) you think they don't deserve what they have. You notice the girls who are going out with people with no redeeming qualities because they're the ones who're talked about. You notice the "non-assholes" (half the time the people who characterize themselves as "nice guys" aren't really) being broken up with "unfairly" because - well, you don't, not in general. But you hear about breakups from your friends, and generally, since they're your friends, the story you're told is skewed in their favor, and against the rival and/or the ex-girlfriend. Whether it's reality or just an illusion, the perceived "nice guys finish last" effect diminishes as you get older. So worry not, my dear. You have plenty of time ahead of you. |

ok.....do you mean your friends are chased by ladies purely because of their a/hole staus? Or do you truly believe that the female of the species WANTS an unhappy, abusive, unbalanced relationship? "its really annoying".............. sheesh...............maybe its not a/holes they are going after, maybe women go for men with a higher pma over those with a low pma. And before you say "I'm a VERY positive guy" go back and read your posts......... not just HITG, but a lot of you guys, go back, read your posts and ask yourself..........."does that sound attractive" Stop assuming there is something wrong with the women/girls you meet, because maybe THAT is the reason they go off with the a/holes. Sorry thaat sounds a little harsh, but you asked......I answered. |

I think you and Paper Duck pretty well have it summed up.
Feeling well in his own skin and therefore being sufficiently confident is the best way to get some kind of notice from women. Being funny and not being scared to talk to women is also another step to getting out of your rut.
women do not want to be with losers and boring guys. Making them laugh (not at yourself, though)often is one of the best way to get somewhere too. But avoid joke telling, though. You must be funny in your conversation.

let's just stay above the moral melee
prefer the sink to the gutter keep our sand-castle virtues content to be a doer as well as a thinker, prefer lifting our pen rather than un-sheath our sword |

Some guys are silly though...
I was in a club Friday and this girl I had never bed before (but a friend of a friend of mine), started chatting to me about this guy who was chatting her up. Apparently he was asking her if she knew the capital of Brasil! But going back to the points made here... well I'm a confident guy and I can talk to women fairly easily, yet still I am undesirable it seems. In my case, it's due to me being too talkative, or more recently, not talkative enough. When I was at University, I used to talk about a lot of random stuff and I made silly comments; it didn't get me very far. I have since then calmed down with my conversations and now I get to know someone first to find out what they're like and if they're a humorous type, then I'll act differently. Some girls are real sticks in the mud, others are like a Ferrari on the Autobahn. It's all about assessing what type of girl they are. Not all girls are suitable, so don't chase any girl who seems to be your type. The problem I now seem to have, however, is that I have nothing to talk about with anyone (I mean that with friends as well), because I don't like being as chatty as I used to be. Having said all this, however, I don't let it worry me too much, as women are the least of my issues right now! |

Well I didn't mean excluded did I... They weren't actively excluding me. They just weren't including me. Therefore, unincluded [/bsexcuseformytotallylameslipup] |

No no, harsh is good, I probably need to be yelled at for being an idiot and complaining too much
And what I mean in accordance to the first line is that they liked girls, the girls knew they liked them, but instead the girls go for the total meatheads with no redeeming values. And the one girl I liked DID have something wrong (she was ovverly paranoid [called me a stalker etc.] and already liked a guy who was in senior year in college (harvard) and whom she had talked to TWICE in her life) ....but these days I'm having no difficulty talking to girls. Not sure they really like me talking to them, but hey, it's something Edited by heyitsthatguy - October 10 2006 at 16:16 |
