This entire world is in full balance under no law.  There is no constitution of anything, it is all relative.

Do what you want, most likely that will be a good thing, one doesnt have to tell you to do good, you just will.  Hate all you want, you wont do anything unless you are rare breed....then you will only feed the balance with actual violence.  Just as a hurricane kills many, a man can kill many, so can a dog.  But just as these things happen, there is love all around as well, balancing itself out with the other ends.

But wouldn't the world be so much better if there was no 50/50 hate/love and just 100% love?

f**k that, no one else around me follows that, I've been f**ked over my entire life, and I'm tired of it, so I'll just sit off to the side as I watch the denizens of the world blow each other up

With your aggressive attitude you're feeding the anger of those who blow eachother up.Ouch

To Josh:

Before getting too down, just remember that you're 16.  Man, I remember it well.  Life sucked.  People in high school are usually very shallow, and if you're a sensitve person, like I was, it can really hurt.  It takes a brave person to trust others in such a time, and I confess I usually wasn't that brave.  But life does change; everything is cyclical.  There will be hard times and there will be better times.  You will be able to find people whom you can trust.  If you haven't already, find something you really like to do (besides listening to music) and commit your energies to that.  And if you can go to college, I'd really recommend it.  It's SOOO different from high school, and you will begin to understand things about yourself you never could back in high school.

I hoped this helps!

im not here to make fun of you guys, my experience is not as high as id like it to be (no gf in a good year or so) so what is it? is it our musical tastes that turn others away? shy? our music takes up a lot of our time (damn long songs)?

i know for me, after i broke up with my last gf, which was the beginning of last summer, i decided to take a period of selabasy (sp?) for the summer and just chill with my friends and not have those relationship worries. since then nothing's materialized much, hooked up with a couple of girls but thats it. from here im just gonna see what happens.

First, most of the guys complaining in here about not having girlfriends are still under twenty years old, which should not count really. When you are in high school, no matter how much you beg, plead or debate, no chick will go out with a guy wearing a VanDerGraaf Generator tshirt and blasting Amon Duul out his car window. It's not that the guy is a major geek or the girl is superficial. They are not fully grown people and are still trying to find their roles in the world as they perceive and experience it. The young people in here have found their identities, but might be the mature exception in an immature pond. Once they get older, they most likely will find people who want to be with them and who care about them for who they are, not for their looks or their social status.

Secondly, if you are an older guy trying to pick up chicks and are unsuccessful, you are doing either one of two things wrong-looking for chicks who are like you in the wrong places or being repulsive in how you approach women. In the former, keep in mind you will not find good women in a bar or night club. You find good women where the good women go. Same in looking for people who share your interest-you will not find prog women in trendy places or in the trendy crowd. You will find prog women in the prog crowd (email me with name, phone number and size of record collection, guys! Wink).

In the latter, let's put it this way-you ever see the bachelors on shows such as "Design on a Dime" and they do a swing or lounge theme to the apartment? Nothing screams "NERD" more than going to some guy's apartment or house and seeing it as the 1950's stereotypical bachelor pad or as a "retro" (aka Cheesy) disco themed pad. I'd rather walk into a guy's place and see posters of obscure prog and metal bands and his Star Trek collection than a replica of Dean Martin's penthouse in particle board. The reason is that the first one says, "This is me and who I am" and the other says, "I have no personality and I think you will dig martini art even though i can't tell a martini from a shirly temple". Guys think that if they portray themselves as glamourous or exotic that chicks will fall all over them. Superficial chicks do-real women want real people...

My date at the Wolfmother Concert was great. I think we have real chemistry here. She actually loves my eccentricity, which is great.

This is a common, very common misconception.  How can you have those great ideals without the bad ones?  Look at yourself in the mirror and really ask yourself if you never want to experience anything dredful ever, ever again.  Heaven?  More like insanity.  Wonderful places wonderful thoughts wonderful this and that....how can it be without the not wonderful things?

We need the evils to make the goods good, and we need the goods to make the evils evil.  Trust me, you DO NOT want to end up in "Heaven" when you die.  You will go crazy if God lets you keep your conciousness.  A man cannot live unless he is a man, otherwise he is nothing.  Stripping me of my sin and evil would be miserable experience.......the day everything is good is the day good ceases to exist!

As strange as this sounds, I think TLC is right, you cant have one without the other, they define eachother. It means that you've got to take the bad with the good, but it doesnt mean that you cant at least try to improve on the bad.

Hey - if you'll permit an interjection from a newb

One of the things I think this thread is overlooking is, that a lot of girls have the same problems you do. I've only ever had two people, that I know of, interested in me: the first, my boyfriend, found me when I was 17, and the second just earlier this year, when I'm at the "ripe old age" of 19. One of my friend's older sisters wasn't asked out on a date until she was 22. And this isn't limited to the "unattractive" either - my best friend is a curvy blonde who has been called beautiful by random strangers her entire life, but who has never been asked out.

So, besides agreeing with darksinger that if you're under 20 you shouldn't be worried yet, I'd also like to add: have confidence! They're not all taken, and the taken ones probably aren't into prog or anything else you like. Expand your horizons.

I'm also going to give you, whether you like it or not, a bit of advice on the ladies from a lady's perspective, which you shall know the value of by its tags:

[bs]In terms of approaching, I've observed that most women like men who are confident, and of course, men who aren't scary. (Dangerous, sometimes - scary, never. Big difference.) First, brush your hair regularly, shave, and shower. It seems like common sense, but I've known plenty of guys who don't and can't understand why they drive girls away. Most women aren't into Aqualung. Next, think about what you want in a relationship. Make sure you've got a good idea of what you want, and that she can give it to you. Just knowing that will give you confidence. Then, approach - let her know you're interested - and back off. Let her make her decision. This provides the dual advantage of increasing your perceived confidence and keeping your attentions from being scary. And yes, even the least physically intimidating individuals can be scary, as they can still become stalkers.

If it doesn't work, find some way to let her know you're still interested, but keep your distance. Women's opinions of you can change drastically if you show discretion in this department.

Also, if you're looking for a good mate, darksinger is right that VanDerGraaf may not be the best choice of shirt - but Pink Floyd is a good bet. Lots of people like Pink Floyd, and wearing a shirt is a built-in potential conversation piece for any girl who likes them who might want to approach you. It simultaneously attracts those with potential and helps to weed out the others - win-win![/bs]

Later all ^^

but my van der graaf shirt is badass and I look pretty good in it.

it's very difficult to approach someone who doesn't at least show a smile or make eye contact once or twice. Also I'm almost 21 and have only been on one date do I have to be worrying yet?
