I have one friend who is really into it, a few who accept and like a little bit of it and the rest hate it.

My girlfriend does enjoy Yes, Coheed and Cambria, and Radiohead. But on the whole, most of my friends haven't even discovered prog unless I have broadened their horizons (which I've done in a few cases [IMG]height=17 alt=Tongue src="http://www.progarchives.com/forum/smileys/smiley17.gif" width=17 align=absMiddle>).

Edit: I know no one who listens to it as avidly as me, especially when non prog-metal is concerned.

Every time I see one of those "Coheed and Cambria" banners, I kind of think about cheese...

A few of my friends listen to surfaced prog metal (tool, dream theater) and bands like Rush and Pink Floyd, but none of them really listen to prog. Most of my friends listen to classic rock.

Theres one friend at my school who listens to prog, actually for the most part we share very similar tastes in music.  For instance we both like Joy Division and New Order.  More to the point, the he listens to a lot of prog, many genres of prog.  To be honest, I can talk about prog/classic/modern rock forever and initiate countless discussions everyday, however, we seem to drift into conversation other than musc.  However, occaisonally he will suggest a band to me, and usuallay i will heed his advice and search the band he recommended.

His prog includes:

Sigur Ros

Brian Eno

Mr. Bungle and Fantomas

Tool

King Crimson (I believe this is his favorite band)

Yes

Van Der Graaf Generator

Dream Theatre

Pink Floyd

CAN

Porcupine Tree

Faust

Radiohead

Frank Zappa

I don't have any friends...

We“re only a few the lucky ones on my group of friends the ones who listen prog

The rest of them listen not prog rock or "cumbia" ...which is very funny. But I don“t blain them because here it“s difficult to know the prog bands

...And as the fear grows, the bad blood slows and turns to stone...
