ClapClapClap

... WRONG!!!

If they don't care about the dog's feelings, then they're not dog lovers.

Oh great! Now I want a cat!

Cats are better at stealing prog. They sneak silently into the shop, snatch the album they want and silently sneak out again. A dog comes in, breaks into an excited bark for finding the album it wants to steal and gets caught before it even finds its senses again to snatch it and run away.

The day my cat stopped bringing in dead mice and birds and started bringing in Peter Hammill and VDGG albums was a happy one indeed!

Sadly, the local police force didn't believe that my cat was capable of removing the security tags, and I was charged with shoplifting and had to pay a heay fine .

Cats love Prog music, as long as it comes with some good food and a warm blanket.

I don't understand... ¿wich previuos comment are you reffering to?... and, if you like dogs, for the good reasons, then have it. For me, it's cats.

Cats are so much smarter than dogs.

When I first got mine, I thought it was a girl so I named it Caty. Well, it turns out "she" was a "he", but I still kept the name since I was use to it. Now though, I think he's figuring out that his name is actually for a girl. Just the other day when I called to him, he gave me a look like no other...

Almost the only time my cat has showed any real reaction to the music I have played was when I put the vinyl version of II by Led Zeppelin on. First he jumped on the plastic lid of the record player, making it play the same track over and over. After I had tried to put the same record on again, he pressed a button from my stereo and switched the radio on, instead of the record!
When I bought Secret Language of Birds by Ian Anderson it was fun to watch my cat getting interested, because the album starts with a sound effect of a bird singing. My cat tried to locate the imaginary bird around the room and finally focused on the loudspeaker and even peeked behind it until he understood he was being fooled! Won't get fooled again, though.
The strangest thing about the subject of my cat and music is that he seems to enjoy it when I play my guitar. He usually comes to sit beside me and sometimes even quietly purrs when I play my Fender. I'm also often amazed by how loud I can play my CD's without him being much bothered. Play any CD as loud as you can tolerate and he just sleeps, but take one step into the direction of the fridge and he's wide awake in a split of a second!
In fact his optimism is infinite: any time I walk towards the kitchen he's sure I do it only in order to give him more food, no matter how much he already has on his plate.
If his meal is "late" in his opinion or something else makes him annoyed, he has a delicate way of showing his dissatisfaction by biting my legs. Cats... the most self centered creatures on planet Earth - and that's why we like them so much!

My dog is smarter and more useful than my cat however.

My cat actually likes when I play prog in my room. He likes all types of
music. It's pretty funny though because whenever a strange part comes up
or an odd meter his head always comes up and he looks confused.
One likes to believe
In the freedom of music
But glittering prizes
And endless Compromises
Shatter the illusion
Of integrity

Sorry to be the one pointing out this for you: your cat is smarter. You think he's useless, but he won't work for free. In fact, you'll never get him to work. On the other hand, your dog will do everything you ask. You might think that this is a sign of how smart the dog is. My cat knows how to open doors, windows, she also knows wich side of the bed is warmer, she knows how to make me open the closet door for her, so she can climb and sleep in a warmer place. Cats learn on their own how to do things that are usefull for them.
