The songs you listed aren't poppy crap, and some have decent proggy moments. What was your criteria for picking the songs? It looks to me as if you just listed all the Queen songs you could think of.
|
i picked the most awfull queen melodies i could think of:
BIG BOTTOMED GIRL, BICYCLE RACE, ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST, SOME KIND OF MAGIC, RADIO GAGA, CRAZY LITTLE THING CALLED LOVE AND SO ON IS POP IN ITS LOWEST SENSE...
even invisible touch was more proggy...
i like pop songs but i prefer intelligent ones...

I hate the Village People ... or The Pet Shop boys, for that matter. Queen are LIGHT YEARS ahead of that kind of music.
How can I like those songs? Well, first of all it's a matter of taste. Many of these songs are objectively brilliant. Ask any music expert ... composition, creativity, innovation, musicianship, it's all there.

Village people, pet shop boys and queen have one thing in common it is all gay'ish music

A Kind of Magic and Radio Ga Ga aren't unintelligent pop songs - A Kind
of Magic relates to the movie Highlander, and Radio Ga Ga is about
radio being replaced by TV as a means of entertainment.
Seven Seas of Rhye, The Show Must Go On, Innuendo, Who Wants To Live
Forever, I Want It All, Love Of My Life, Death On Two Legs, White Queen
and Father To Son aren't simple pop songs (half of those weren't even
released as singles).
I'm not saying that they haven't made some bad songs, but they're
nowhere near as bad as some artists. And if Queen are gay because
of Freddie Mercuy's sexual preference (and he was actually bisexual),
then by the same logic, Judas Priest must be gay.

Nay i say that Queen make Gay'ish music...there are several bands that make Gay'ish music that does nto have anyone in the band that is gay and ofcourse does not Judas Priest make gay'ish music.
And by gayish music i mean simplistic pop in the lowest form that usually applies to women.

I remember seeing them supporting the Earthband in Newcastle, around the time of Seven Seas of Rhye, and quite liked them. After that though, they did nothing for me - it's just a sound I could never warm to.
I don't particularly hate them, but by crackey I do hate Bohemian Rhapsody!

Some Queen songs could be classified as pop, but in general they are no
means "simplistic pop". And what do you mean by "usually applies
to women"? If you mean that women usually make what you call
"gayish music", then I would challenge you to name a woman who has made
music resembling Queen's. If you mean that it usually appeals to
women, then I would also disagree. I don't think there's a
particular dominance of women amongst Queen fans, and their earlier,
more progressive work probably wouldn't appeal to women as much as it
does to men.

"Hammer To Fall" and "I Want It All" don't belong with synth pop -
there are no keyboards in either of those songs (or if there are, they
play a very minor role). And if you can't define the term
"gayish", don't use it - particularly not with reference to Queen,
where it has other connotations.

I would dispute the 80% figure, if I could be bothered, but don't forget that over 60% of Genesis output is POP too...

The guitar is only heard in very few songs...i was severly disapointed by queen as i actually was expecting guitar riffs...but that only happens every 2 or 3 songs

That depends on which album you're listening to, but I think the guitar is quite clearly there on most of them...
Listen to any of Queen's early albums - the huge guitar orchestras of Brian May will blow you away!!!
I recommend getting Queen II - it's one of the greatest rock albums I've ever heard If you haven't heard it, you'll never think of Queen the same way again.
That doesn't mean you'll like it, of course...

A statement like this needs to be backed up with specific examples. Which Queen songs can you not hear the guitar in?
