GENESIS for sure !!! Can't stand the overdone, massed, pompous vocals of Queen - never have, never will. Truly ruins some decent music for me.

1- ATOTT & W&W
2.- Early Queen 3.- Middle Queen 4.- Late Queen 5.- Anything except 3 men Genesis So I won't vote because would be giving an undeserved point to 3 men Genesis that IMNO harmed the good name of the best Prog band ever. I would gladly eat broken glass before listening 3 men Genesis Iván

I think for the first one, Gabriel Genesis would win easily.

Some great post-Gabriel albums, especially W&W...Hackett was great on that record. Queen was a different beast completely....no comparison really. Apples and oranges.

Strange comparison, like cheese or chicken.

Had to go with Queen. They win three albums to two: Queen II, Shear Heart Attack and A Night at the Opera over A Trick of the Tail and Wind and Wuthering. The rest of either band's catalogs mean nothing to me.

Early Queen - Queen 2, first side of Sheer Hear Attack and Night at the Opera are brilliant (but 'Entangled' slays anything Queen ever did.)

Queen all the way for me. Wind and Wuthering did not much for me, and Trick of the Tail sounded too academic for my taste.

This is a tough one for me. Queen was the first rock band I ever got into. And Genesis overall is my favorite band and the Collins-led era has produced some excellent prog and even occasionally some excellent pop. They've also put out a few steaming piles, but then so have Queen. This is almost like asking me to choose between my right and left leg.
As to the discussion about Cosmos Rocks, I liked the album too, although I wish there were a couple more May songs and that Taylor and May had done the album without an outside vocalist. But it was cool having an album made up of over half Taylor songs. |

Though I like post-Gabriel Genesis very much, especially their late 70s, Queen have made a lot of great songs and true rock anthems..!

For me a good discussion would be 70s Queen vs Gabriel's Genesis and 80's Queen vs Post-Gabriel Genesis.
But as it is here it's Queen and not even close.

Actually, I may have to retract what I said earlier. I'm currently on a listening spree of Duke, Abacab and Genesis. And while I find them all consistent, they all have a number of tracks I really love. Duke may be a four-star album, the other two are three stars. And I like Trick a lot anyway (W&W not so much). I still don't know how Queen compares to this because I'm not very familiar with most of their albums, but I might be starting to prefer the Genesis singles (A Trick of the Tail, Follow You Follow Me, Turn It On Again, Duchess, Misunderstanding, Abacab, Man on the Corner, Mama, That's All, Home by the Sea, Land of Confusion, Jesus He Knows Me).

Don't know so much Queen, but for what I have heard, I go with Genesis, barely.

Since it is Genesis post Gabriel, although I did enjoy "Then there were Three", I lean towards Queen. I really enjoyed Queen II, Sheer Heart Attack, and Night at the Opera at that time. Nice Vangelis reference Raccoon! China was one of my favorites. |

I simply LOVE A Trick Of The Tail and Wind & Wuthering (nearly my favorite Genesis album) but I also love A Night At The Opera and Queen II. I'd feel bad if I voted for Genesis so no vote love them both too much

You really mean that YOU wish Queen had made an album like W&W. I don't, no 70s Queen is as sleepy as W&W. Don't know much about their 80s work, which I have largely avoided. And I highly doubt Queen wish they could swap A Day at The Races or Jazz with those albums, let alone Queen II or Night at the Opera.
