Released date are often when it it impacted you but recorded dates are when it really happened...

I buy CDs, because I see no reason not to. They look nice on your shelf and you will get new experiences when you listen to them.

Vinyl is my first choice. My CDs are for listening in the car and jamming with on the guitar.
I am a collector which to me means I want to have the original item. I haven't bought any albums since the late seventies but I now spend a lot of time on the net browsing eBay, Amazon and rare record sites looking for a few things I missed back then.
I never download and do not own an iPod (Remember Scary Movie 4? Giant iPods tried to take over the world!).

I only buy CDs I love album art, lyrics, Pictures and info given in a booklet. I also find that cds are much better because I like having a physical copy and not just some virtual crap

For me the "magic" happens when I'm listening to music ... not when I unwrap the plastic disc.![Wink Wink](smileys/smiley2.gif)
|
But the "unwrapping" is so... You know, it is just like when you're alone with a she-friend of yours, talking, gossiping, when, suddenly, there is this silent moment where no one talks but looks in the eyes of the other, then happens a kiss, and she lets you unzip the first buttons of her shirt, just before she...
Erm, back to the topic, I still buy CD, because I always fear the corruption of files, the loss of data, all that jazz.

I actually download an album I think is nice based on PA reviews and the fact it is not metal, then go buy it on vinyl. If there isn't a vinyl copy of the album there, I buy the CD, and if there is no CD I either wait that there is a vinyl/CD copy of it or I download it. |
But you've already downloaded it, so then you would re-download it after discovering that you erased the initial download that you only downloaded because PA said it was good, but you wanted to try it out, but you downloaded it . . . I'M CONFUSED!

A problem is these accursed quadraphonic versions they add to 'deluxe' editions these days. I cannot play them. The other disc of 'bonus tracks' was usually left off for good reason in the first place. So, I'm just left with the remastered version! I understand there is one of these 'deluxe' packages of ELP's Brain Salad Surgery.

I am really bad in organizing and storing things. I still do buy CD but I am not seeing much point because I tend to loose (or lend) them after a while anyways

^ I have the cover art of each album in Winamp and on my mobile player ... no matter whether I downloaded it from Amazon/eMusic or whether I purchased it as CD. :-)

One good reason for not buying downloads is they cost more - don't they? Another is I want/need a hard copy. Finally, how do you know how they were mastered? That's at least three reasons I can think of. I'm sure I'll think of others after I've signed out and made a cheese sandwich with Jacobs' cream crackers.
