I'm really surprised that Rush hasn't even come close to winning any of these five Arena Rock polls (with only three votes in total so far), although I have a feeling they may win the next poll tomorrow.

Actually not a bad album at all, did not get a vote because it's got some serious competition.

Agreed on both. Huge Rush fan but the debut does little for me these days. I will occasionally listen to it. The Kansas debut is a great American prog effort and shouldn't be in this poll. However, since it is, I voted for it. [EDIT] - Apparently, I already responded to this thread two months ago. Edited by Jeffro - September 22 2024 at 12:47 |

^ "Jump" is the only Van Halen song I can ever remember, mainly because it was overplayed on the radio here too.

"Jump" seemed so overplayed here back in the day when I was still a child (some would say I still am). For the hits, I preferred "Panama" and "Running With the Devil".
"Sunday Afternoon in the Park" is more my thing, but also less relevant to this topic. |

^ Admittedly, I've never owned a Van Halen album, but if I'm going to choose a favourite VH song, I might as well Jump in at the deep end.

Paul, Good poll. Did not respond before. I like several of the albums listed. Asia, Heart and Kansas would be my top 3. Boston is overplayed on the radio, but it's an excellent debut. Van Halen spent a fair bit of time on my record player back in the day. Edited by Big Sky - September 22 2024 at 16:10 |

I had More Than a Feeling that Boston would win this poll, but at least they managed a very respectable joint third place with six votes. Check out the white drummer's amazing afro! Coming up tomorrow..... Arena Rock: 6th Album

I'm not one for arena rock, but the first Kansas album is fine. I should probably listen to Dreamboat Annie given the praise it gets.

Kansas over Asia and Boston. I like Rainbow but Rising is their definitive album imo.

Time stands still for Rush with not a single vote so far, when my fly-by-night prediction was for Rush to win most of these polls. Wrong again.
Never mind. There's another Arena Rock poll coming up tomorrow, so maybe Rush will do better in the second round while I'm still finding my way around these albums. Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 28 2024 at 06:54 |

I'm saving both of those bands for a Glam Metal poll, sometime in the distant future.

Narrowed it down to Rainbow, Blue Oyster Cult, and Kansas. Went with the first.

Definitely heard complete albums by 24 of them... actually can't recall having heard an entire album by 'The Who' who I really never liked...

Music has always been a matter of energy to me. On some nights I believe that a car with the needle on empty can run 50 more miles if you have the right music very loud on the radio. Hunter S Thompson

In that list, there is a bunch of good album that found its way home, but I only kept some of them , which are all good
AC/DC - High Voltage Aerosmith - Aerosmith Boston - Boston Blue Oyster Cult -
Blue Oyster Cult Foreigner - Foreigner Heart - Dreamboat
Annie Journey - Journey Kansas - Kansas Meat Loaf - Bat Out of
Hell Queen - Queen Rainbow - Richie
Blackmore's Rainbow Van Halen - 1 I hesitate to vote between Bat Out and Journey's debut, because they might need some help
if you must stay with a Canadian band, try Triumph. . Edited by Sean Trane - July 17 2024 at 07:39 |

There are 12 acts in this poll who I’ve never listened to a single studio album by….and only seen 2 of the others live (Bon Jovi and Heart)
