Mine actually does
He's an archeology student, I can argue with him about religions and believes for hours and he likes the pics I showed him from my favorite photographer.
Plus he has a great taste in music!

So do you want to marry me or what? I just can't take these games. I really doubt she's all that close though. Out of the 30 people that started in my class, 3 were girls. One has left the program, another pretty much only communicates in chinese and the other is in a long term relationship. Trust me, it's a pretty static situation here. |

Indeed, I think this is a very good point. Of course, it's not very likely that the girl you end up talking to is a huge fan of all things prog etc. but it does happen occasionally. For example, there's this girl at my school who pretty much looks like the next Paris Hilton. For some reason, I ended up discussing things with her, and it turned out she's a huge jazz fan, plays saxophone, and is generally interested in the same things as I am. I'm hardly the one to give advice on this subject, but the point is, you should never trust appearances. Even if some girls may seem shallow, you need to look beyond the surface to find out what's really going on. This can't be done, if you don't talk to them at all. Is that a one-size-fits all Comus shirt? I went on the site you got it from and there was no mention of size...

Yay linguistics! And good for you for pursuing a comp-sci major as well. I'm happy with my ling degree, but without a comp-sci degree my ability to apply my skills to technology is limited, and this has hurt in my job hunt so far... |

I was very surprised this weekend with my female friend who I don't normally have much to talk to about, because we started chatting about politics and it turns out she's quite clued-up on it, that was a pleasant surprise!
A word to all: don't under-estimate girls (and girls, don't under-estimate men), because sometimes they can surprise you with a conversation. You won't know until something is brought up. The girl/man of your dreams may just like archeology, theology, photography, or whatever, it just may not appear obvious. So try all avenues of conversation. Wait, SolariS. While classical physics is the reason I didn't go into engineering, there are those few of us out there who fit what you're looking for. I'm not propositioning or anything, but using myself as an example. Strangely, these women tend to be ignored by men - until someone recognizes them for what they are and snaps them up. Wait. She may be closer than you think.

I'm a physics major in grad school. I never meet girls...except the one's I TA for in intro lab. They're 18 and I'm 23 so I'm really not interested in that. Also, I just don't find that much in common with any girls. Anyone else have this problem? I'm really into music, but most girls (most people for that matter) I meet, I can't have a conversation with them about music that I'm interested in. Everyone listens to top 40 radio such. I like to discuss philosophy and theology, but nobody seems to care much about that stuff either. I can't bring myself to compromise either. I really want a good relationship, but I've almost stopped believing that I can find someone I'll 'click' with. |

Christopher (Chris?), yes indeedy I am. I am a linguistics/compsci double major just beginning to take my major-specific courses for both.
[bs]Dane, it depends. If you've been trying, you've probably been looking in the wrong places. If you haven't, then don't sweat it.[/bs] And yes, that's a cool shirt. It certainly wouldn't hurt - but Pink Floyd would be more likely to help. Geck0, agreed some girls like the tramp look. Showering, however, is still a necessity . And once more, my VDGG reference anyway (I don't know about darksinger) was less about putting them off and more about opportunity cost. If you don't like Pink Floyd, go ahead and wear the VDGG. Being you is always the most important thing. Josh, it's your choice to be unpleasant, and if you make that choice you have to be pretty prepared for people not to like you. You also have to not whine about the consequences of that choice. |
