Funny, I don't think some of them are the most technically gifted (Besides Portnoy, Morg, Phillips and Porcaro) but they are really what I enjoy the most...

Michael Giles (Gile Gile Fripp and early King Crimson the inventer of the standard krimsonian drum beat .ratam dom dom takk, ratam dom dom tak, ratam ratam dom dom tak) 4. Bill Bruford (hees time is aoutstanding, and tchnicicality is nearly unmatched) 5. Matt Cameron (Soundgarden, Pearl Jam is a big fan jazz and progressive rock) 6. 1. Perre Moerlen (Gong, Tribute, Mike Oldfield, Brand X) 2. Christian Vander (Magma, Offering, the jazz trios and quartets named after him) 3. Mani Neumeier /Guru Guru, Tiere der Nacht, Acid Mothers Guru Guru, Lover 303, lots of other projects) 4..Pip Pyle (Hatfield and the North, National Health, Soft Heap, many other projects) 5. Christian Burchard (Embryo) 6. Jon Hiseman (Colosseum, United Jazz and Rock Ensemble, Paraphernalia) 7. Bill Bruford (Yes, King Crimsion, UK, Earthworks, Bruford, many other projects) 8. Jan Fride (Kraan) 9. Andy McCulloch (King Crimson, Greenslade) 10. Jaki Liebezeit (Can, Phantom Band)
The first three are more or less fixed; the rest may change. Billy Cobham is no doubt an excellent drummer, but I don't like his style, so he does not appear on my list. The same is true for Lenny White.

Who are your top ten favorite drummers of all time? They don't have to be prog, they can be from any genre. The top part of my list always changes, but at the moment mine looks like this
1. Neil Pert 2. Mike Portnoy 3. Kieth moon 4. Nicko McBrain 5. Brian Downey 6. Bill Brufrod 7. Phil Collins 8. Brann Dailor 9. Roger Taylor 10. Clive Bunker
Ringo Starr always falls in and out of my list, i think he is great and really under-rated but the others over all stand out more to me. I'd like to know if anyone knows what band number five played in, he is a very talented and under-rated drummer in my mind.
