Can't stand Disco Queen either, thankfully the majority of Scarsick is good though. My second favorite from them after Entropia. Tongue

Pain of Salvation, Daniel Gildenlow, frontman, singer and song writer was a permanent member of The Flower Kings, also a member of TransAtlantic with Portnoy, Roine Stolt, Pete Trewavas and Neal Morse. Also on Ayreon's  01011001, the seventh studio album by Arjen Anthony Lucassen.
I suggest 4 completely different tracks from Pain of Salvation for you to listen here:
Used - Pain of Salvation - Live from "Ending Themes" DVD : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TGDoTlj15Q4
Pain of Salvation - Undertow https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nmThYFlLFKM
now this one yay bounce, bounce happy bounce!!!!! yay!!! Big smile Pain of Salvation - Disco Queen (Live from Amsterdam)   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I88l4gkaPkQ
And now a softer yet grabbing side: Pain of Salvation - Hallelujah https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sfxScuK3Qy4

I freaking agree! I have no idea why they aren't playing every single jam band fest in the United States all summer and blowing every other band there out of the water... because they would OWN it.

I think all Prog bands should be better know.

If I was only allowed to name one band, I would name the wonderful Sensations Fix and their mastermind Franco Falsini (solo album "Cold Nose" - this masterpiece is - as far as I know - still available on vinyl). They have been one of my most listened-to bands in the last few years and they still keep me listening and dreaming with their totally intriguing space prog.

I really enjoy those Gosta Berlings Saga, who remind me of Anglagard. For Galahad, as mention SteveG, i was listening to Empire... album and never fully understand why this band is not more well known than the big neo prog bands.
Music is the refuge of souls ulcerated by happiness.

Steve,
you mentioned female singers.....I think White Willow deserves more mention.

The Tea Club- Pretty much the best symphonic/crossover prog band on the east coast right now. Why these guys aren't as big as The Dear Hunter completely baffles the hell out of me!

Lovely Little Girls- The evil stepchild of Magma, Cheer-Accident and Sleepytime Gorilla Museum. Alex Perkerloup is absolutely amazing. I fight for this band to be heard. These guys make music that is insanely catchy but surprisingly more dangerous and weirder than even a lot of avant-stylized bands. BUT, there's something very modern about their sound that I think SHOULD appeal to the youth of today. Kids needs to realize that Lady Gaga and St Vincent aren't actually weird at all...

Orakle- French indie rock meets French avant-black metal. Been listening to their new one for a couple months solid. These guys are like evil satanic Muse now or something. They should be opening up for Muse on tours.

Prypisme- Basically the most outrageous instrumental band based in video game music and avant metal I can think of. Why aren't all the freaking crazy ADHD kids listening to this? Oh... it's because the mass media wouldn't know how to promote them.

Leprous because even though they are doing well in the prog world... these guys should be the biggest metal band on the radio.

Cardiacs because they are the greatest band to ever have existed in my opinion, and they should be a household name damn it! Best psychedelic pop rock a person could ever ask for!

And then pretty much a thousand awesome insane bands that have no chance of fame so i wouldn't even list them.

Steve. There is a reason why Galahad are not as well known, or successful, as Marillion, Pendragon, IQ.

It is because they were good, but not as good.

Angry There are two things that I hate to be confronted with. The facts and the truth. LOL
