I'm a little bit peeved that the Lions and Giants play on Monday night football the opening week.  The Tigers have a game that day too. "In order to accommodate fans attending the Tigers game against the Kansas City Royals and those planning to attend the Monday Night Football game on Monday, September 8, the Tigers have changed the first pitch to 4:08 p.m."

The division may be on the line starting with that game, and I am not going to want to go anywhere near downtown with all of the rabid and drunk football fan boys down there.  LOL

They better cut down on the flags once the regular season starts.  I don't think I can sit through games with so many penalties.

Well, the pre season is nearing it's end which means real football is almost here!

As always, can't say this pre season has meant much to me. Ryan Nassib and Corey Washington are looking like Montana and Rice, but they are mainly playing against other second teams. Still, is nice to see we may have another potential WR, and Nassib could be a competent back up (still wish the pick was spent not on a QB but no point beating that dead horse)

Things are going as I expected, the implementation of a new offensive scheme, while also rebuilding an o line and dealing with new players, will take some growing pains. It will be a rough start to the year, and it really depends how a lot of question marks turn out, in regards to how the season will go. Realistically can't expect anything more than the .500ish zone. I'll pray the defense turns out as good as it could potentially be, and the offense gets on track for a second half run.

Outside Giant news, after actually allowing a tad bit more defensive play the NFL has remembered offense sells and won't let the defense touch a player nowLOL I wonder if all the talk about Seattle's secondary and perhaps them getting a lot of breaks has been an influence on the crack down.
Before the rabid Seattle fans freak out relax, I'm not accusing here, just echoing the sentiment of the blow hards on TV.

Yeah, I mean we all know the deal with pre season..
Though Eli was 6 of 7 I heard so they totally blew away the 70% accuracy goal  LOL!

As we've heard by now, David Wilson has re injured his neck, and has now called it a career.
Real shame, so young, so much potential, and he was just breaking out it seemed.
What can ya do though? It was a shocker he was cleared to play at all, and with this most recent injury to the neck...god one serious blow to it and dude could be paralyzed or worse.
His career is over, but as he said at least he can literally walk away...

Best of luck David!

At least we seem to be good at RB. Rashad Jennings should be solid and I'm excited about Andre Williams.

True. I suspect a semi-shaky first half and then a serviceable to fairly good second half (barring injuries, which for the Gmen is impossible). Te group gelling I can see being the major issue, as well as Richburg's newness to the NFL game.

Yeah...can't say what happened there. Maybe he just hit the wall? Injury is a good guess...but I don't recall anything being reported....not that that means much.

Oh for sure, his presence will be missed but no doubt he has not been good the last 3 seasons. Losing him physically shouldn't be a major blow.

At least that Pugh became pretty darn good by the second half, we'll see how all the rest works out. Especially Beatty, not sure the issue there (injuries as well?) he had a great year at left tackle in '12, then sucked horribly in '13.

^ True that. Can't say after last year I'm too distraught starting a whole new O-line, but Snee did do great things for the gmen. Shame injuries had to take him out in the end...but those two rings should keep him plenty warm at night.

And good news on Wilson. I've heard for awhile he's been close to getting clearance...I'm glad it's finally been granted. Maybe now we won't need 10 RBs in a season!

Chris Snee has retired.
Simply can't play anymore with his injuries.

Was a top lineman in his prime, and crucial part of the 2007 SB.
Injuries derailed his career, they say in 2012 and he's just never recovered. I think it began in 2011 because he was mysteriously pretty terrible then, but one thing for sure: He never did recover Cry
Thanks for being a great Giant.

On a more upbeat story, David Wilson has been cleared to play.
I actually never thought he would again, I just hope he can stay healthy after an injury like that.
Right when he was breaking out into the beast we all thought he could be..but hey maybe he hasn't lost anything. We shall see.

Just because the other football threads are way to active.

Bad news for the G-men...Beason had his foot injured and will require surgery. Initial reports are 12 weeks...

Also, RIP to Chuck Noll. Leader of the pack for head coaches in # of rings.

I do wish the Giants took Tre Mason (RB) instead of Bromley in the third round. Obviously I don't really know him but most of the experts thought it was a reach to take him in the third...but hopefully it'll pan out. I'm happy with the runningback we got at the end of the day though.

But yes...OB Jr. and Richburg gets a thumbs up. Based on need I think we did pretty good...though that Corner we probably could have passed on...but at that stage in the draft it's all stabs in the dark.

Well, I don't know much about college players who aren't the top names so going just on positions taken and opinions of those in the know...Giants had a good draft.
Beckham sounds like a great pick up, and supposedly center Weston Richburg was a top center prospect (and fills a huge need). Bromley takes the space of Linval Joseph, though I'll miss that guy, and we got a back, safety, corner and linebacker so all solid moves that fill needs.

I thought it was curious that they didn't immediately go for their secondary. That's where they need the biggest improvement defensively. I guess they're figuring with their front 4, they're going to bring enough pressure that most passing attacks won't be an issue. We'll see though.

Unfortunately, the Cowboys have been unexcitingly drafting well. Which is something I figured I would never say about Jerry Jones.

Sorry, Manziel went to the Browns with the 22nd pick.
That was one where I was sincerely hoping Goodell would walk up to the mic and say, "With the 22nd pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Cleveland Browns ruin the career of..."

^ I do like Gordon, and I feel bad for Cleveland, but I can't help but giggle.

Yeah, Bradford's best year was his rookie year which was quite solid, if not spectacular, and had moments of that "it" you want in a QB. I really do think his lack of, most everything, and that horrid O line is to blame. Gotta feel for the guy, it's like David Carr, entire career shot because of a sh*tty team.

True though, regardless of reason you need to take the axe eventually. Agreed, get a new QB and if this year is no good from Bradford he's gotta get the boot.

WOW. Josh Gordon faces a possible year suspension for another failed drug test.
I really feel awful for Cleveland fans. After the high of drafting Johnny this could be a crash harder than heroin itselfLOL
If this was to happen, what a blow to the balls for the Browns.

I give a little benefit to Bradford as he hasn't really had weapons and has had a couple different offensive systems to learn in his small tenure in St. Louis. He does seem a bit prone to injury, which for me, is his biggest issue.

That said...if there isn't improvement this year, time to move on. I do think getting a quality/veteran QB to back him up is a good idea though.

Here, here !

And thank you to ESPN for making this little twit bigger than he will ever be....Hopefully the Manziel family DVR all that krapp so they can watch the only high light of his NFL career.

ESPN you put so much attention on that guy and left all those other hard working legit NFL players out to dry....disrespectful IMO.

Eh, thing is I never was tooooo sold on them personally because they were lacking on defense (you still need some to win). In fact, that pretty much goes into what you said about failing to take an injured division.
As for offense, as beastly as Calvin is you can't rely on just 1 WR for all your output. Especially since Stafford can develop Calvin addiction, like Eli had with Plaxico. You just mindlessly lob balls in his direction and pray it'll work out. LOL

That said, Stafford has been getting better, and he has another weapon now so that is still a scary thought.
