but going to commmunity college get all the required courses
then on to film school Smile

true, I'd take whatever I could get just a couple years back. The minimum needs to be raised all over the country IMO, no one can pay rent and other expenses on $5.15 an hour.

No really, I'm currently entering my senior year of engineering school, but I'm currently working for a wireless internet company, which is where I hope to work after I graduate as well. Within the next couple of years, wireless internet will be available anywhere, the same way you get cell phone service. pretty freakin' cool.

Good friend of mine graduated with a BSEE from VT in 2000. I tried to send you a PM once when you posted a story about a crappy professor who gave you like a C when you scored high on a final...my buddy had the same professor in the same class (Discrete Signals/Systems was it?) and the same sh*t happened to him.

yup. engineering school is no walk in the park, we must be gluttons for punishment. Embarrassed

Why not?
When I was in the middle of my B.Sc. studies I already knew to which masters programs I will apply and which mentors I wanted to instruct me. I also knew I want to do a PhD (which was delayed a bit due to some reasons). In the masters studies I knew which universities and programs I will apply to for PhD. It's not that strange to start thinking ahead of the next step. It's not like I am commiting myself to one thing and that is it. I am thinking about where I want to go and what do I want to achieve and I set the current ground in order to get that. In biological sciences (at least where I am from) it is quite common to think ahead this way.

My wife was a lab assistant in cancer research centers in the Washington DC area for several years, specifically Georgetown University and the National Institutes for Health (NIH).

I applied to 6 univesities but was admitted into only one.
It is SUNY at Stony Brook in Long Island.

I have heard many good things (and read excellent scientific articels) about the NIH cancer research programs. I will apply for the post-doc there.

I'm a scientist in the field of molecular cell biology specializing in cancer research. I currently work in a lab in a hospital but in September I will start my PhD studies (in the same field) in the USA.
