There's an interesting "round table review" on DPRP: five of their reviewers talking about the same album.
I listened to the album and I can only - and completely - agree with Jerry van Kooten's take on it (although my rating would be slightly less severe).

Rainbow Sky - beautiful song with an ELO kind of vibe.

I took the song Solitude and edited out the "Love Made a Way" sections with Neal's vocals down to 3:54 minutes. Now it sounds way better. xD

IMHO Pete's singing used to be better back in the day. But on this album it's still ok.

What do y'all think of Pete's bass playing? His tone, growl, and the notes he plays is so so good. He carries this release to a higher level. His signing?? - not so good. But Mike's lead vocal tune smokes. Best I've ever heard him sing. Maybe it's just the shine of this being new to me, but I can't stop listening. And the mix/master courtesy Rich Mouser makes my ears happy.

Pete is truly the unsung hero of the album. He's just on fire throughout!!! The singing...not so much!!!

But "Looking For The Light" is Mike's best ever vocal turn.

Oh, Neil and God had an argument. He'll get over it. Great album, btw.

Lyrically, this release does not praise the imaginary one.

I love Pete's playing in everything he does with Marillion, TA and Edison's Children. His tone is excellent and always thick and beefy, right up front....where it should be. I wish DT would take notice and bring John Myung up to par, but they always mix him too low and back, shameful! Angry

Really hoping my version is done well mix/master wise, Kaleidoscope was not very good sound wise, too compressed and not very good dynamics. Rich can be hit and miss.....

^ Hmm I was afraid of that......hoping many listens will be the key. Too many here and on YT reviewers like the album quite a lot.

Hmm...1st listen was kind of disappointing to be honest.  It didn't have the WOW factor of the first couple of albums.  Just kind of sounds like another Neal Morse solo album/Neal Morse Band album.  Hopefully, future listens will have a better feel for me.  I didn't dislike it, but certainly wasn't wowwed either.  I also was listening while working so the attention wasn't really where I would want it to be.  Here's to future listens!

I'm loving it. Is it as good as SMPT:e or Bridge Across Forever? Maybe not but I like it a lot more than The Whirlwind or Kaleidoscope. Listened to both versions a bunch of times now and I can't decide which I prefer...

My Ultimate Edition is stuck in Atlanta. Radiant has apologized and sent us a free link to Neal's streaming service to tide us over!!! Still I'm very pleased I ordered it as it is now SOLD OUT!!!

$100 well spent.

I do like a lot of Spock's Beard and I enjoyed the Similtude of a Dream. I'd like to at least give it one more shot since TFKs Islands was my favorite release of last year.

Also glad to see you're back, was just wondering what had happened to you the other day as well.

Glad to see you back and posting!  I received the new Transatlantic album in the mail yesterday.  I plan on giving it a first listen today.  They are truly a gateway band for me.  I was listening to the classic bands at that point and being a Rush fan led me to Dream Theater and of course Pull Me Under on the radio.  I had to check out this Transatlantic band because Mike Portnoy was playing on it.  I was blown away.  Of course that meant I had to check out these strange new bands (to me) called Spock's Beard, The Flower Kings, and Marillion...and of course, the rest as they say, is history.

Which version have you been listening to? I tried the first few tracks of the abirdged version but thought it sounded a little samey. I figure its not for me but i'd be willing to give it another stab if Forevermore is the way to go.
