My pleasure! Out of all the newer Danish prog bands I've listened to, Vaerkat are the cat's whiskers! ![]() VAERKET Saving the best till (next to) last again, this is the stunning new sound of Vaerket (The Works), a scintillating Eclectic Prog sextet who are all fired up and locked and loaded with awesome weapons of mass construction, sounding like a God Almighty powerful new hybrid of Mostly Autumn and Jethro Tull, on steroids! It's enough to hit Ian Anderson with a fit of jealousy. ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - July 11 2024 at 10:53 |

Thanks for the run through Psychic Paul. You made some interesting selections. Personally, I would have liked to see more of the newer Danish prog.

^ Your Daily Gift and Refugee were the only two Savage Rose albums that were hidden from me on YouTube, although I listened to the individual tracks from those two albums too. Have you checked out Wild Child (1973)? - the best Savage Rose album of all.

Hi,
The Savage Rose early stuff is "hidden" ... Nothing like adding insults to injury and sadness (... not you Paul ... ) of a band that really put out and tried, and simply was not lucky enough to get a few more appreciative comments in various places. It kinda takes the desire and attempt to listen to some of the band completely out of choice and try ... I went after someone else, after 3 different "hidden" pages. So sad ... this hurts the music, even if the band is trying hard to protect its work ... but more folks not seeing it, or having an alternative to see it, and maybe listen ... Right ... next?

Music is not just for listening ... it is for LIVING ... you got to feel it to know what's it about! Not being told!

ZARAGON Also the title of John Miles' third album, Symphonic Prog band Zaragon must have really meant it when they titled their album "No Return", seeing as it turned out to be their one and only album, although that only makes it all the more special. Definitely an album worth returning to again and again, and all of the lyrics are in English too. Mange tak! ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - June 08 2024 at 12:22 |

TINKICKER Not a group of air crash investigators, but one of only two Danish Heavy Prog bands (the other being Odd Palace). Tinkicker deliver ass-kicking, rip-roaring power chords in the style of Black Sabbath, combined with tenuous Progressive Rock influences including Pink Floyd. The band refer to themselves mockingly as Pink Sabbath, and they have the pink hair to go with it too! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

A-Z of Danish Prog Artists SOLANACAE Danish Psych-Folk from guitarist Kim Larsen, a man of mystery who likes nothing better than to spend a magical night out in the woods amongst the elves and fairies. A bit like a Danish Jon Christian Anderson then. ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - June 01 2024 at 13:52 |

SKY ARCHTECTS Reach for the sky! Sky Architects are a high-rise band of social climbers from Aarhus - a Danish town not known for its skyscrapers - where the sky's the limit for their particular brand of postmodern Post Rock. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

SECRET OYSTER A Danish Jazz Rock supergroup (if there is such a thing), consisting of ex-members of Burnin' Red Ivanhoe, Coronavirus Dance and Hurdy Gurdy. It's no secret that Secret Oyster are one of the finest Jazz Rock bands there's even been, not just in Denmark, but in the entire world! You don't have to take my word for it though. Just check out Secret Oyster Live on the Old Grey Whistle Test (introduced by Whispering Bob Harris) in the video below. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - May 28 2024 at 08:38 |

THE SAVAGE ROSE The most enduring (and endearing) Danish band of all time! The Savage Rose are led by bluesy singer Annisette Koppel (the Danish Janis Joplin?), who was a Wild Child of the seventies in her twenties and who's now a Wild Child of the twenties in her seventies. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - May 28 2024 at 12:52 |

PAPIR Hypnotic, seemingly-endless psychedelic space jams drenched in reverb, following in the footsteps of Manuel Goettsching and Ashra. That's the sound of Papir, an obscure Space Rock trio from Copenhagen. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

PARKHUS 1 A profusion of instrumental Jazz Fusion, which only leads to confusion, but at least the track titles are in English - not that that's any Guide though. ![]() Edited by Psychedelic Paul - May 15 2024 at 10:37 |
