You're missing out on one of Camel's best albums if you lost interest in them after 1976. 1999: Camel - Rajaz - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbbAtWt9NH2_fWqOZdxUewUtx5Sx7Llny |

The first four Camel albums are a gas, but Moonmadness is the last one I really dig. Their sound shifted for Rain Dances, maybe it was in production or the tech of the time, but I just don't get into them much after 1976.

Great lp...probably my fave by them but Mirage is close.
Strange they changed the Moonmadness cover for the US market...thats how my cd art looks ,but I have the US vinyl version art.

An album I loved when it came out but only ended up only playing Side 2 (never Side 1) for a decade or so. Loved the album cover. Love "Lunar Sea" to this day. The rest can be nice occasionally.
A band of which I usually liked their music but never loved more than a couple songs from any album. I liked them enough to keep collecting their albums through the 1980s but have only gone back to listen to their 1990s and later releases lately--with only Rajaz impressing me much. |

Camel, surely one of my favorite all-time bands although I disagree on your album rating, especially Rain Dances and Rajaz, except for Moonmadness.

their best no doubt !
Spoiled in its USA ugly cover art .... far from the sheer, diaphanous pastel colors and drawings of the european original |

I was a late bloomer and I didn't hear Moonmadness until the year of 1980 when I bought it in Philadelphia at a record shop called Third Street Jazz And Rock . Up to that point I had been listening to Mirage which I bought in 74' as an import on the Deram label.
Moonmadness intrigued me and I especially liked side 2 of the LP which featured the three tracks "Another Night", "Airborne" and "Lunar Sea". I was living in a kind of retreat house by the woods during that time. I was making good money traveling the road in the music business and I was able to live off that nest egg in a retreat house where I blasted Moonmadness in the evenings. 😃..beautiful times |

Moonmadness was the first Camel album I ever bought and one of my earliest prog albums, nearly forty years before I started buying Genesis and Pink Floyd albums.

I dont know why some people ignore RAJAZ easily. This is a great album.
I am a Camel huge fan and IMO they deserve more than what they got from Prog fans

YouTube links can be as nebulous as a desert Mirage which blow away on the wind like Dust and Dreams, so here they are again, all freshly repaired and replaced with A Nod and a Wink towards a Camel album that's making it's first appearance on YouTube in a long long time. I've also taken the liberty of downgrading the Nude album to a 4-star rating, so I'm Breathless with anticipation to see what you think, but if you disagree, then just put it down to a touch of Moonmadness. 1973: Camel - Camel - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL3iRBCmFzEGg8QuVyfAUr05ilgjPWUH-5 1974: Camel - Mirage - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL4-oCE2y-CrE1LA1_zjHWcWP82PPCngaH 1975: Camel - The Snow Goose - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_n-E4oCUFb3iPPuQZ3IAh_9LpBh76MJYQU 1976: Camel - Moonmadness - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_nyGHrNV07De1VA_TDOmy8b8V9hdj8yxS8 1977: Cemel - Rain Dances - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_lACysOFHgWHq-1HaQPQl6Dat2pKlp774U 1978: Cemel - A Live Record - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_m4-adu0ifiojsm-vz-PLACrpKN_AwxEXI 1978: Camel - Breathless - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLvsYXqtYjMYfMMJVy2zovBFi_KFCnZZTT 1979: Camel - I Can See Your House from Here - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_mY9QnwL06xz0RACCIkp0pTOrgDBaev5Sw 1981: Camel - Nude - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=OLAK5uy_kIekOFMMIc9WnSq2QpGuwZcwwaAIa5Pv8 1982: Camel - The Single Factor - https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPmo393DXHIcCQzz57AUxynXHuBqs9FdM 1984: Camel - Stationary Traveller - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLVoHLI_LXfji959PEEdKmuvju9WaAg-lX 1984: Camel - Pressure Points - Live in Concert - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5BFJgXr2uDDJTT-64OuQLvOo3oH47D2l 1991: Camel - Dust and Dreams - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8aHHd0iIl6M 1995: Camel - Harbour of Tears - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5zrh-PzFdu8 1999: Camel - Rajaz - http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLbbAtWt9NH2_fWqOZdxUewUtx5Sx7Llny 2002: Camel - A Nod and a Wink - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M3KNGtTa3WA Edited by Psychedelic Paul - August 08 2023 at 03:18 |

Moonmadness was the last Camel album I really enjoyed. It's probably joint fave with Mirage. The first 4 were classic prog overall. I think they lost something special after that, and their jazzy outputs became like bland musical wallpaper for the rest of the decade. I don't mind some of the later albums.

Camel have that magical balance between being tastefully mellow and more demanding complex parts. Works for me.
