The second: Tomorrow's Dream and much of Sabotage being on top.

"Over To You" is my fav. Sabbath song ! And those albums have been very well praised on Youtube so it's unlikely you'll be the only late 70's fan even here.
I'm waiting for a charismatic PA loudmouth to advocate for those albums (along with many other great albums) for sure !!

I would just take the Reunion live album and be happy with that one.

Was a huge Black Sabbath fan. For me Volume 4, Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage takes it easily although I love all of their Ozzy albums.

Went for option 2 but the albums are all terrific. Although as usual it's the ballads that drive me to distraction. She's Gone - soggy stuff on the fine Tech Ecs. Even worse, Changes - which is worse? Ozzy's take on being Elton John or his daughter's?

But anything with Wheels Of Confusion... the 2001 Space Odyssey of metal.

I can't decide as both groupings hold different emotions and memories for me and love them all, I will not vote and leave it tied at 29.

I still can't decide......

Just chiming in that I also love Never Say Die and Technical Ecstasy.  Never Say Die is actually my #3 Sabbath album.

Anyway, I picked option #2 in the poll.  My top two Sabbath albums are Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage.  Then Never Say Die is 3, and Vol. 4 is 4 appropriately enough.

It's tricky, all six albums have so much going for them. I pick the first three, but tomorrow it could be different.

To me, the first three albums are magical - the playing and the songs - Vol. 4 is kind of transitional, sounds patched together - then Sabbath Bloody Sabbath and Sabotage are brilliant, but much more polished and constructed - not necessarily a bad thing, but overall I have to vote for the first three.

I remember making a Black Sabbath mix-tape for a friend when I was in college - 25 years ago - I put stuff from almost every era at that time, even some from the Glenn Hughes era! I guess I was more into the post-Ozzy stuff - Born Again is still one of my favorites, since I bought it early in my Sabbath listening which was also when it came out. But my friend liked the earliest stuff the best! At the time I was disappointed, but now I get it.

I'm glad there's someone else who loves Born Again, it's one of my favorites as well. I know many complain about the production, but I can get past it when the music is just really good.

Me too !! Love Gillan's voice, love the songs (Disturbing The Priest couldn't get more epic) and it was one of the first Sabbath albums I heard (along with Heaven And Hell and Live Evil). Then came the Ozzy albums (was late-'88 / early '89 for me). Super special, and the debut was a strong obsession for a stoner

I love the greasy droning drudge blooze of the first three.  The next three tore that haze off the sound......and it worked - there's diversity and more focus in production and energy in performance.....still, they really can't compare to the early daze.....not much "heavy" music does.
I like to feel the suspense when you're certain you know I am there.....

I enjoy the others, but Paranoid is the only Sabbath album that blows my mind. So I go for the one that has it in it.
I shook my head and smiled a whisper knowing all about the place
