currently i'm very obsessed with Tortoise's Beacons of Ancestorship album, it takes their postrock/kraut/fusion sound into one that uses much more synths to drive the music.

Kinda reminds me of Soft Machine, around "Six" or "Seven". Maybe I'm off the mark, but that's what first came to mind.
That stuff sounded good. I don't have that album by Tortoise yet, but maybe I'll get it now.

I have three early Tortoise albums (all generally rated very highly by critics), and though they all sound really cool, none of them has really knocked me off my feet yet. No "A-Ha!" moments that I usually get when I just "get" a band. It'll probably happen eventually.. I like that style of music pretty much.

Ok so for me in this category, KLAUS SHULTZ is the master!! Albums to look out for are X and MIRAGE. He's a true. KRAUT at that. Best in the business for me.

tks!! Three Trapped Tigers is not bad i will check out more. ahhhh KS of course i have some of his works but not the above mentioned....i take it from my subject title that these albums have got drums and other rock instrumentation that accompnay the mighty synths?
Mirage has no drums and X is very classical sounding.
☺ very true. You know another great analog/synth perfectionist is VANGELIS. he rocks the vintage analog sound hardcore!! Love his work. Albums are SPIRAL, HEAVEN AND HELL, BLADERUNNER SOUNDTRACK AND DIRECT. Gold I say!! Gold! 😝😝

Just a small reminder to the folks who've resurrected this thread: zoviet (the op) hasn't visited PA for two years, so you are basically making recommendations to a ghost
