It is theoretically possible to make a cat hover.
Given the following universal absolutes:
1 - a cat always lands on it's feet 2 - toast always lands butter side down on a white carpet
If you butter a cat's paws and drop it over a white carpet (on, ELP's stage, for example), then it will be unable to land, and must therefore hover (looking - without doubt - disdainfully at it's owner, and planning bloody revenge)
Just a thought....

I tried the experiment with one of our cats, but it wouldn't fit into the toaster, and now I have 3 long scratches on my left arm. Ah well!
