Wow, what a great thread, you've seen some great shows amongst you all! Clap

First :- Pendragon December '87 Marquee London. Clap

Worst............ oh, is it really polite to say?  I try to find the good in everything........... but 2 REALLY jump in my mind..............
Flowerkings, CRS awards 2006,  "H" Oxjam 2006 both were SO dull I left before the end (despite the beer on offer), although FK's did get the kids crying, so maybe some amusement was gleaned after all, but the 9 hour round trip for half a gig cancelled out that small merriment. I agree with Fandango, dull, dull, dull. where oh where has the "rock" gone?

Best:- Either..... George Michael @ Earl's Court (really cos I never thought I'd get a chance to see him and it was REALLY emotional! )  or  Pendies at The Peel June 08 (read Sigod's review, it wasn't only me that thought it was a pretty spesh night!) Tongue

Last :- Minnuendo Festival 08. For those that were there, you know it was a pretty special event thanks to mother nature and some good old fashioned grit and stubborness on the parts of the musicians! Threshold eventually left stage at about 5.30am I think! Bl**dy Marvellous stuff! Clap

I have seen some stunning gigs over the years, lots and lots of "bests" not really many "worsts" and looking forward VERY much to the "nexts" Big%20smile

Worst: I'm not sure.  There were a couple that turned out disappointing because of other circumstances.  Not sure of a worst.

Best: Rush - 1994 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYkUre8FWIQ  I was at this one.
Latest: Rush - 2008 Joe Louis Arena, Detroit (It would have been Yes, but it was cancelled).

Edit: I saw Neil Diamond Shocked last night.  He is quite the entertainer and puts on a really good show.  And everybody can sing along to Sweet Caroline.  Coming to America is an awesome song.  Almost kind of proggy pop.  He uses 2 guitarists, a bass player who uses both an electric bass and at times a stand-up bass.  Two keyboardists-I think 1 might have been using a Moog but I'm not too up on equipment stuff.  He also has a drummer and a percussionist who were quite good.  He also has 4 horn guys playing various brass and 3 back-up singers.  I think he is probably my biggest guilty pleasure.  Definitely not my normal musical fare.  I don't own any CDs from him, and yet this was the 3rd or 4th time I have seen him live and I always seem to enjoy it.  Sorry.  I hope that I haven't further shattered/soured the rest of your opinions of me. LOL

Edit once again:  I saw REO Speedwagon last night at my local city summer festival.  They played a free show.  They have been around since 1971, back in the days when prog ruled the earth.  It was a decent show.

Edit again: I saw Journey and Cheap Trick on Tuesday night.  Heart was supposed to perform also, but one of the Wilson sisters had a throat infection and so they cancelled.  I always like seeing Journey perform and they put on a very good show.  The new singer has a good voice and does sound quite a bit like Steve Perry.  He was also all over the place on the stage; very energetic.  I was kind of disappointed with Cheap Trick.  They were the opening act and quite frankly were as bad as most regular unknown opening acts.  They only played 3 songs that were recognizable to me.  I didn't recognize the rest of their songs.  Probably was a good show for fans, but quite disappointing for the casual fan.

I haven't been to many concerts but i have things worth mentioning:
First: Diego torres (i went there because i was just a kid and my dad liked that music) January-2003
Worst: Diego TorresDead
Best: Roger Waters March-2007
Last: Dream Theater March-2008
I've also been to a The Police concert in December-2007, it was cool, but it doesn't fit in any of these categories.

First - Barclay James Harvest at Newcastle City Hall on the Octoberon tour 1976.

Worst - Difficult but in recent memory The sensational Alex Harvey Bands roadcrew totally ruined the gig with a wall of noise sound.

Best - many that could compete for this but Rush at Newcastle on the A Farewell To Kings in 1978 has got to be one of them.

Last - Petangle at the Sage in Gateshead in july this year, brilliant!

Best Concert: Rush in 2003 in Baltimore.  They ruled.
Worst & Last are the same one: Unholy Alliance Tour in Spokane, WA 2006.  It sucked.  Too much metalcore, the sound system sucked ass, and Slayer was in poor form.

first: I almost went to see Ivor Cutler in 1981, but didn't.  First was some local reggae band, I forget their name.
worst: I was at Live8, Mariah Carey's set was atrocious, plus I discovered I was surrounded by huge Mariah Carey fans who sang along loudly.
best: I was at Live8 and I've been a Pink Floyd fan since 1972
last: I saw Metallica the day before yesterday, at the O2
rotten hound of the burnie crew
