unfortunately i still don't have any marillion, flower kings, gentle giant, genesis, van der graaf generator, pain of salvation, or spock's beard.

After listening to Tarkus, I decided not to give ELP further listens.  I don't have ONE SINGLE ALBUM by ELP.

Same thing goes for Caravan after listening to In the Land of Grey and Pink.

I could think of more...

ErmmHmmmm... Basically, all of the prog metal (after hearing a fair lot of it here).

Now I'm not going to put it down, or claim it doesn't belong here, but metal of any stripe (even with prog flavours added to the mix) is just not for me. Some of the older, less frantically pryrotechnic or "evil" stuff can be a bit of a laugh for a while (I listened to about a half hour of Dee Snider's syndicated "hair metal" radio show House of Hair when "in my cups" a few weeks ago LOL), but it still soon wears thin for me, and loses my interest or starts to grate on my nerves. Does Van Halen count as metal? I crank them in my car now and then. Cool

Some other fairly popular prog acts I've sampled here have done little for me as well, (though I gave them an honest try) such as the Flower Kings (overly derivitive/generic, to me), Mars Volta (to my ears it's noise with horrid vocals) and Magma (too weird -- but not in an interesting way). Despite being initially impressing with The Light, I've never been moved to seek out any more Spock's Beard, either. Transatlantic and Arena seem very popular here too, but I don't recall ever listening to them.

Still, there's tons here to like, both old and new to me! Thumbs%20Up In fact, I don't usually respond to "worst" or "disappointing" type threads or polls, mostly because I can't, with any honesty. I will gladly listen to free samples, but I won't buy an unheard artist on speculation. Hence I tend to know what I'm buying beforehand, and therefore I like pretty much all of the music in my collection. (With the exception of a few gift discs, and the odd dud from bands I'd previously liked. Even in the latter case, though, I can usually find at least some good in it, such as with latter-day Gentle Giant or Genesis.)

Um basically all the ones I haven't heard of. Which is a lot. I'm looking for new stuff but I just don't have the money to buy albums and rely on the goodness of my parents to supply me with 1 CD every couple of months. Maybe. So I have to make choices when getting music so I choose something that I think I will like for a long time instead of just trying out a band that I might like periodically.
