Some of you might have asked yourself last friday under the shower  "Shouldn't I better have taken a day off and be gone to the 'Canterbury festival'. Instead, you affronted your angry boss your boring collegues, overcrowded commuter trains, dealed with the problemes of your teenage kids, got deepfrozen food from you bad tempered wife and let's face it : We had twice as much fun as you did. Positive point : after having seen the pics you can't possibly say no the  next time. Wink

French railway is just organizing a big Prog & Train campaign , next on the list:
'Dover is too close to the edge' and 'Lamb and mint down on Canterbury high street'.

In the meantime Hugues and Marie-Noëlle picked me up at Calais under a pouring rain . So Hugues put 'Grobschnitt's 'Solar Music ' on  to soothe the Gods and it worked...

just after Dover the rain stopped (nearlyWink)

once having dropped our stuff in a very nice B&B, Blinddog.jpg

we went out to search the 'Blind Dog' at St. Dunstans and....

MeublesSchwindratzheim063.jpg

we found him ad St. Dunstans gate, with his dear friend Chris selling Prog records. Isn't that pathetic? But you might wonder: What happened to the dog's sex life?

MeublesSchwindratzheim021.jpg

well, the dog, the dog he's at it againTongue

What was the weekend's secret word again :
Yes 'The Blind Dog' Home of the brave!
Chris (Syzygy), Hugues (Sean Trane), Aymeric Leroy (Yes, the one & only Monsieur Canterbury father of the famous 'Calyx' website, whom we met whereelse as in Canterbury) and yours truly (Alucard)!

MeublesSchwindratzheim027.jpg

just for the record, talking makes thirsty!Big smile

MeublesSchwindratzheim029.jpg

(Editor's note: Hatfield is written with a  'T' you dummy!)

MeublesSchwindratzheim017.jpg

 a real Prog-door in 7/8.

MeublesSchwindratzheim034.jpg

just a teaser, more pics on Hugues's upcoming concert review!

MeublesSchwindratzheim012.jpg

'Solar Music's spell wore off on sunday moring and so instead of going to Herne Bay we ttyed out Simple Simon's Ale & Food.

MeublesSchwindratzheim072.jpg

... repeat after me 'Die Faust' with 'AU' like in a mouse!

That's all folks!Wink

Martin seems to have forgotten that we had the chance to talk to Hatfield and The North members in the pub after the concert, get our CDs signed and chew the fat with The Rotter's Club (the book that is) writer Jonathan Coe.

The first night's first B&B was buitlt in 1652 and we talked music into the night, while our second B&B was a XVIth century coach house complete with the pub (where we ate the typical shepherd's pie and steak & kidney puddings). And the simple Simon pub was placed on St Radiguns street.

BTW, Martin!!   I believe Chris asked to do the review of the concert, so I shall do it.

Just in case someone wonders beside Tomita's record I hold, the next one is a Larry Corryell album with Miroslav Vitous called Spaces.

I've already written most of the review - I'll pm you when it's finished.

Nice pictures, happy memories of a great weekend!

Sounds like you had a great time guys. I have many fond memories of Canterbury (the city) from my youth. I still remember the old wonky shop. There used to be a great toy shop near there where I spent hours looking at all the Corgi cars I couldn't afford. I also remember buying "Going For The One" in Canterbury when it first came out.

Great pics!

I truly wish I could have been there; kinda bites being in the US sometimesDead. I will have to visit Canterbury some day.

By the way, I've been meaning to get "Spaces," and "Hopper Tunity Box" is a great album.

Indeed, was Chris really selling his copy of Hopper Tunity Box?  It's one I don't have myself, haha.

Great photos guys.  I've never been to Canterbury, I may have to go sometime.

Alucard, you've done one better than me!  My copy of Hatwise Choice is only signed by Richard Sinclair (I saw Hatfield and the North last year, when Pip was still with us; great gig I might add!).  Although my brother also has a copy of Hatwise Choice signed by Richard Sinclair...

Good stuff!

I suspect that there will be more Canterbury events in future years.

Hatwise Choice: Mine was signed by Sinclair and Pip Pyle some 16 months ago when I first saw them.

Olivier, what can I say?

Incidentally, a review of the gig itself is now in the live reviews section, with additional pictures.

Yes -- that colour choice was not accidental.

Thanks for noticing. You may move to the front of the class, young Hugues!
