http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_CD. asp?cd_id=3218 Says "1979" - the concert was actually 1989 from Philadelphia. Additionally, Steve Morse (guitar) should be added to the lineup. Check this link at allmusic.com for verification...

Yeah, I've wondered about this one. There is also a live 'Greatest Hits' listed that has the exact same track list, but is listed as 2003 ( http://www.progarchives.com/Progressive_rock_discography_CD. asp?cd_id=3221). According to King Biscuit Records, the album was recorded in August 1989 in New York City (http://store.thekingbiscuitshop.com/kansas.html). I'm guessing these are both the same album and just issued under different covers. You're right about the dates and Steve Morse though. Maybe our resident Kansas expert can clear this up.... Garion?

Amazon.com says "Recorded on Feb 14, 1989 at the Tower Theater in Philadelphia, Pa. 1999 release." The cover art is different and the date on the KBFH website is August 14, 1989, but it is the exact same set list. I wonder if KBFH put out two different shows from the same tour? Weird. Either way, we should get it fixed just so no one gets the impression that Kansas wrote junk like All I Wanted BEFORE 1980!

Yeah, well I suspect these are both the same concert. BTW, just to complicate things, I believe this one ("Extended Versions") is from the same concert as the 1998 King Biscuit album, just with the songs in a different order and missing "One Big Sky" and "Point of Know Return". I actually have this one, and it's not too bad I suppose, although Walsh's voice gets pretty raw in a few spots. |

Ok, I changed it to 1989, and added Morse to the line-up.
Thanks guys! |
