Drew is right. Anyway, what do you mean by compete? Look around and taste everything that seems interesting. That is what this site is for. Here are some good threads to begin studies: http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=19836& amp; amp; amp;FID=42 - French http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=17840& amp; amp; amp;PN=1 - Spanish http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=7256&a mp;a mp;a mp;PN=3 - Belgium (RIO/Avantgarde) http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=19821& amp; amp; amp;PN=1 - Scandinavia http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=18860& amp; amp; amp;PN=2 - Prog Videos on the net http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=19749& amp; amp;FID=3 - German Folk Prog |

amen to that my friend it's not a competition... sure there are people here whose prog collections and knowledge are....staggering hahahhah .. but to compete.. nah... take the opportunity to listen to different stuff and learn... I know I have, and have become a more well rounded prog fan for it.. |

Get a lot of albums, and listen to a lot of prog sub-genres. Have an open mind and listen to genres and bands you would usually would never listen to. For instance, im not a metal head, but bought Devin Townsend's Synchestra and love it. |

Prog is not about how old you are in years. Prog is about the music - if it moves you & you like it, listen often. We are all learning & growing all the time. Hope you enjoy your trip through the site. |
