In order of greatness,
1. Kevin Moore will always be the best, hands down, no contest. Beautiful lyrics tied with inspiring melodies.

2. Jordan Rudess (With long hair). Pretty good, the LTE stuff felt somewhat emotional, and an evening with JP and JR was fairly impressive.

And last but not least,

3. That 53 year old bald guy who plays with them now. Fast empty scales and dive bombs, and NO lyrical contributions. Thanks for nothing.

   As if there wasn't a million reasons why there isn't anything metal about Dream Theater, I just realized JR is 53 years old, and 53 year olds shouldn't be playing in fake, wannabe growl-metal bands.

God, I hope they start fresh with this next album, and lose the dark-metal image. Also, lose the damn keytar.

On an unrelated note, I think it's pretty cool to see a 4 year old thread that hasn't been locked with a bunch of members who haven't been active since I've been here.

Moore for sure. Rudess basically just w**ks all over his keyboard. 

On a slightly related note I'd say Derek Sherinian is my favorite DT keyboardist mostly because I like the sounds he uses much more than Moore (HA!)

It's not important who is better technical player. Kevin Moore's cold and darkness keyboards has strong emotional feeling. Dream Theater was better as a band with him, because he put something unique and special in music. Images And Words and Awake are prog-metal masterpieces of all time.

I like Jordan, especially his solo releases Rhythm Of Time, but his playing in DT sometimes lacks of feelings and melodies. I don't like instrumental marathons they did on SDOIT , Train Of Thought or Systematic Chaos, it was terrible!

My vote goes to Kevin.
