Looks like everyone that voted for Kev is too scared to admit it, personally i cant think of to many keyboard players as good as Rudess, and certanly not Moor.

Thank god for that, the only song he did well was A Change Of Seasons and that was probably because most of the keyboard parts were written by Kevin

They started writting A Change Of Seasons in 1989 with Metropolis Pt1 but didnt finish it for I&W, I guess if they wanted they could have put it on Awake but they didnt.

I prefer Kevin Moore's contributions to Dream Theater overall more than those of Jordan Rudess.
I think Jordan has better chops, and fits in better what the direction DT seems to have taken lately, but I liked Kevin's choice of patches better, and he also wrote a number of their songs that I like. Jordan has one or two killer patches, but he tends to rely on them too much, and I know he has chops because he can't stop showing off those 32nd-note-triplet runs. Okay, okay, very impressive Jordan. Now could you please play something that actually compliments what the others are playing? Kevin knew how to do that. Jordan is still learning, apparently, though Octavarium shows some actual skill on his part.
Outside DT, I'm tempted to go the opposite way. Neither OSI nor Chroma Key do anything for me. Nice music to put on and maybe do your taxes or something. Jordan's 4NYC acoustic solo concert is pretty cool, and his work with LTE is at least interesting.

Perhaps he wasn't out to impress you?
There's more to musical ability than technical prowess.
I voted for Moore, his music was much more evocative for me. Rudess is
amazing technically, but his choice of timbres leave a lot to be
desired, IMO. Jordan also has this penchant for corniness that rubs me
the wrong way.

Kevin is the best!
Jordan may have more technical skill, but he just wanks too much! Kevin moore had a very distinctive, catchy style.
I have a boootleg video on my computer that has kevin moore playing on change of seasons, it is different from the final version, i kind of like some parts better.

I'll take Jordan Rudess. First off Rudess posesses a better resume. I don't think Kevin has done anything as note-worthy as the Dixie Dregs (other than Dream Theater of course). Kevin does not posess the extraordinary technique that Rudess does. On the DVDs and videos of Rudess playing with Dream Theater, Rudess almost looks bored when he's plaing Moore's singled-handed melodies. Rudess also uses a better repotoire of synth sounds. Rudess orchestral synths sound amazing at times, and he has done a brilliant job straying from the typical keyboard sounds in progressive metal.

Any idea where i could find this? though i did vote for Jordan, its absolutly no contest as to witch was DT's worst keyboard player, Derek Sharinian. He was always to arogant and thought he was fantastic on the keys, but in realaty he was only good. Kevin would have been brilliant performing A Change Of Seasons, its only a shame that he left before they finished the song

The problem with the actual works of DT is the exxxcess of "technicallity" in his music. I prefer the emotional keys of MOORE to frigidity and emptiness of the sound created in the keyboards of RUDESS (I confess that I even prefer SHERINIAN to him !!!).

I agree with the "excess of technicallity", but I disagree with the
fact that Rudess makes "frigidity and emptiness", in DT as good as his
others groups.

Wow, this is the only forum i know where there is an actual group of Rudess supports
Anyway, Rudess is about as entertaining and musically minded (judging from his stuff with DT) as a carrot. Yeah, he can play fast and accurately, big deal? NOTHING i have heard him play has moved me. Moore had some really cool ideas and he knew when to be flashy and fast and when to step back. The fact that I much prefer the albums Moore is on over the albums Rudess is on says something to me. And what says even more is that i prefer Chroma Key over the newer DT stuff and LTE.
Rudess fit in really well with LTE, but this topic seems to be more focused on DT considering we're putting him up against Moore. So Moore wins hands down. So yeah, i don't like Rudess

That maybe true for his DT work, but his solo stuff and the stuff he does with Planet X compares favorably with any of Reduess solo work or the stuff Reduess has collaborated with non DT folks. (my opinion, for what's worth). This is not a knock against Reduss, he's a fine player, more of a defense of Sherinian.

Kevin Moore all day long. In my opinion he is a much more tasteful player - he never over egged the pudding in the way that Rudess can sometimes do. From time to time Rudess' tone is hateful - he *almost* manages to ruin Six Degrees with his treacley sweet effects!
In terms of songwriting I think DT miss the influence of Moore - his lyrics for DT were brilliant and his contributions to the musical side of things were also from the top drawer.
Also, looked at what he did for Fates Warning when he guested on their recordings - genius!
OSI and Chroma Key, too, are great projects.
Yup - Kevin Moore for the win!
