Weren't those dudes all born after 1995?

Looks like the singer Joshua was born in 96. Not really Prog anyway… or are they?

I think they range 1996-99. They formed the band in high school.

Yeah, definitely not prog, and shamelessly derivative.

Is that all you gotta say, Mike? Did James Labrie not autograph your chest?

Speaking of not having much (or at least nothing important) to say. Wink

Tell me you really miss the PE chats without telling me.

Dude, that was a really long time ago.

Saga's 1995 album Generation 13 is about Gen X. Though I think the band members were a little older than what we now would consider to be Gen X (not by much).

Anyway, it seems to me that Generation X began contributing to the genre in a quite young age, and altogether has done it pretty well. Thumbs Up

For not to talk about The Mars Volta releasing their first album in 2003.

Btw, I wouldn't consider Greta van Fleet as Progressive Rock, neither are they included in PA's archive.

I know it's not the first, and the experimental rock would not be thought of as Prog (as a genre) by all, but Mr. Bungle can be thought of as a pretty early example. The debut was released in 1991. Mike Patton was born in 1968 and Trey Spruance in 1969. I could say that it is sort of Pepsi, I mean Prog, for a new generation, but then I would relate it to music by John Zorn who was born in the early 50s, who I would related to Zappa born in 1940, and Beefheart etc..

Another topic of some possible interest might be what kinds of progressive/art music are different generations most associated with.

Hi folks,
I am on a quest to identify the first bands/artists of generation x to make progressive rock.

So the precise question to answer can be:

Which was the first Progressive Rock album made by musicians born in the years 1965-80?

Yes, thanks so much for making my question clear. I was struggling with articulating my question.

Absolutely, I believe they're all Gen-Xers. Anglagård was co-founded by Tord Lindman, who was born in 1968, and I think he may be the oldest member of the band (not sure).
