Sorry, this is really just a necessary disclaimer because the skype software allows other users' computers to open connection to my computer. This is because any communication between skype users is done without any participation of a central server.

I didn't make up clause 9 in the EULA.

Not trying to get anybody offside here, this is just my understanding of Skype.

cobb: we just differ in our understanding of that disclaimer, that's all. I know many adware/spyware programs, and out of my own experience I can say that Skype is neither.

I'm almost positive I don't have any GAIN, although of course I can't be certain (although I believe) there's no spyware from anyone else with it. I'll get a second spyware checker to verify it, anyhow. Did someone from here just add me?

I read quite a bit about Sharman Networks here in Australia in the local computer magazines, they were quick to put Skype down and tell it for what it was. They were raided recently, and just lost the case involving kaaza. As an afterthought, those articles I posted were American articles, so GAIN is certainly include in the US Skype- don't know about Europe though.

There may or may not have been a choice to install GAIN stuff with it, I just automatically cancel it when I see anything like that anyway

The article you quoted sounded very dated ... it has been two years since Skype was bundled with Kazaa.

Turns out OpenWengo is not compatible with Skype, but WengoPhoneNG (which is currently being worked on) will be. Possibly.
