That is a hot take. Disagree, mainly because I believe there is no such thing as "best" but Fripp is no doubt great. In the past several years, Guthrie Govan has impressed me the most on the electric guitar. As I said, no such thing as greatest, but if you made me choose, an in his prime John Williams would be my choice for a guitarist. His technical proficiency on the classical guitar is something to behold. Saw him back in the mid 80s and when he finished playing, a friend of mine asked did he miss a note? My response. "No." Absolutely jaw dropping how he played very difficult classical guitar pieces with such ease. |
