PT's remake of Fadeaway signifies everything I don't like about their current iteration...

Edit:  To elaborate:

I first got into Porcupine Tree in 1999, when I found a copy of Up The Downstair at a record shop.  It seemed unique, so I thought I would give it a try.  It was amazing...  and Small Fish/Burning Sky/Fadeaway is still one of my favorite album closers.

As of late, PT's had far too little spacy exploration, far too much alt-rock.  Now, I don't mind alt-rock in my prog, but I dislike it when it wasn't there to begin with and creeps in like a tumor later on.

So when I heard that PT was doing Fadeaway on tour again, I was excited.  I read they did it on the XM2 disc, so I got ahold of that...

...  Who is this guy singing?  Why does it hurt my ears?  The song itself remains basically unchanged, but the VOCALS are something awful...  it would be like having Captain Beefheart sing Golden Slumbers or Jon Anderson singing Bobby Brown Goes Down, some songs just do not need a vastly different vocalist on it, especially when it's not even a cover...  if this is how they wish this song to be remembered...

There's nothing wrong with the British...  a friend of mine said that phrase in regards to Steven Wilson waxing his back or something, and it stuck with me...

Dunno what to tell you, saw 'em play it last month in D.C. and thought it was fantastic. I guess it comes down to personal taste, but I found John Wesley to be a nice vocal addition to the band.

Don't go all soft on us, you started this thread, you chose the title, now stand up for yourself against your untrustworthy transatlantic forebears.

Anyway, you're absolutely right, we're not to be trusted an inch.

I thought that was just Scousers?

Porcupine Tree remakes one song and you impugn an entire nation of people!

Wow, dude, maybe Porcupine Tree isn't your biggest problem right now!

And the seventh biggest manufacturer of those funny shaped plastic things you find in the back of cameras is British, let's not forget that. Well, the factory's in Britain anyway.
