Porcupine Tree - Deadwing
Dream Theater - Octavarium
Pagan's Mind - Enigmatic: Calling

all 3 are absolutely brilliant in my opinion.

Having only heard one 2005 release my default answer is Annihilation Of The Wicked by Nile. Not prog, but it's the best i can do i'm affraid. I may soon have Catch 33 by Meshuggah so that could change my mind. I'm hoping that once i get the next Opeth album that i'll be knocked on my ass. I'm really trying not to buy into all the hype though. I did that with the Nile album, waiting for something amazing that i had never heard before. I got something really good, but perhaps not as good as i expected. I'm still digesting it though, and it's hard to do that when ITCOTCK (which i got the day after) is dominating my ears

The best 2005 album will probably be the fourthcomming Opeth masterpiece, but I will recomend you all a great swedish band called Beardfish who will release their 2nd album in late summer this years, I've heard the promo and if you like Genesis (Foxtrot/Selling England), Yes (1969-1972) mixed with some Zappa och Crimson (who don't!) you'll gonna love this album. Happy, crazy, all-time-changing-super-prog at it's best!

Check this one out!

1. The Marsvolta- Frances The Mute (i dont think anything is going to top this this year.)
