Interesting poll here, these are some really creative albums, they definitively stretched the boundaries of punk music.

Chairs missing gets my vote. 154 is a tad more progressive me thinks
though, longer fleshier tracks. Second edition comes in at a very close
second though.
On a side note, "Swan lake" off PIL's metal box should be considered symphonic prog-punk

Marquee Moon is a litle progressiv i think and its a great record, its the punk album for people who dont like punk , becaus it realy does not have much with punk to do, it's more like indie rock i think

Good Call, Marquee Moon is somewhat progressive in nature. Have your heard any of the others?

I don't believe that punk can be progressive.

..........I bet you have never heard any of these albums, and therefore you should not judge.

Snake, I have a narrow view of the world for thinking that music based on three chords and music based on finding new musical techniques don't mix?
If you two can say I'm wrong then give no reinforcment to your point, then I can judge music I've never heard. (Even though I never did)

It's pretty funny that the only people here are newbies, aside from Zargus who says Marquee Moon isn't even punk.

Brave topic! It's a shame that most hardcore proggers have such an insurmountable kneejerk reaction to anything regarding punk. Punk didn't kill prog in the 70s...it killed itself, and punk just happened to be nipping at its heels the whole time. Luckily, punk itself attracted so many iconoclasts and experimenters that the music that came after the 'first wave' of punk was arguably more progressive than most of what the classic prog bands were doing at the time.
Out of this list, I'd vote for Marquee Moon...some of the songs on that album are definitely classic '77 NYC punk (a loose group that included the Talking Heads and Blondie as well as the NY Dolls and the Ramones), but Verlaine and Lloyd were unafraid to push the boundaries- to the extent that good ol' Johnny Rotten sneered that they sounded like the Grateful Dead (who themselves were, at that time, enjoying their most 'progressive' period since the mid to late 60s).
My personal all-time favorite progressive punk album is Sonic Youth's "Daydream Nation". By that point, the many and various seeds scattered by the punk influence had come to bloom, and the Branca "no wave" avant-garde sound was one of these. Between carefully structured chaos and psychedelic tonal explorations (and a hidden but firmly rooted pop-rock awareness), Sonic Youth made albums that were more 'progressive' than all their contemporary neo-prog bands put together.

DavidInsabella, thanks for proving my point, as I suspected you've never heard any of these albums and therefore should refrain from judging. The poll, after all, refers to progressive punk, not punk in general.
If you knew any of these albums you would know that they contain some of the most creative music ever recorded (regardless of genre) and that all of the musicians involved know more than just three chords. We're not talking about green day here.
Either way, it's your loss really.
Oh, and the newbie thing, that's pretty lame comming form another newbie. Guess you're the real newb 'round here for judging people on post count alone, doubt any of the senior members would have made such a ridiculous connection.

What the hall is prog punk? punk means lame simple songs with complete disability to play and no voice. Prog is exactly the opposite.
