LOT'S OF CHANGES IN YES AS PEOPLE QUIT OR WERE FORCED OUT OR NOT INVITED IN---I HAVE WONDERED WHAT IF---LIKE WHAT WOULD GATES BATTLE SOUND LIKE IF VANGELIS JOINED (NUCLEOGENESIS PART 2 ---PERHAPS) SO---WHAT WOULD YOU MOST LIKE TO HEAR IF YOU COULD OR MAYBE WHAT DO YOU THINK WOULD HAVE TURNED OUT BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL?

I was tempted to say Vangelis on Relayer for curiosity about how that would have worked, but I guess the reason Vangelis didn't join was the right reason: the stiles weren't quiet so compatible; and the end result with Moraz instead of Vangelis was unbeatable (Gates of Delirium!!!) If Squire had been around for ABWH then it wouldn't have been ABWH at all, ofcourse, instead it would have been a reunion of the very best incarnation of Yes, and that would have been fantastic, so I voted for this option (though surely they wouldn't have hit the height they achieved on Frigile and CttE).

Agree 100% with Dellinger....If Squire had been on ABWH then that would have been Yes, in the most classical line-up, and I bet the album (ABWH) would have been even better...
To be the one who seeks so I may find .. (Metallica)

Squire on ABWH to make the line-up complete. The other options are hardly an improvement, or not at all.

The only reason why ABWH wasn't called Yes is because of a legal matter, so Anderson on Drama takes the cake for me.

I CAN'T HEAR WHAT YOU'RE TYPING BECAUSE THE THE OTHER GUY TYPED ALL IN CAPS! Tongue

By the way, you can actually hear Jon Anderson on Drama if you get the remaster which has bonus tracks where he and Wakeman do some rehearsal tracks before they split.

Yes, Squire on ABWH would be ideal. Maybe we should get a movement going to have the band go back to the multitracks and have Chris add his bass and vocals ? ( Though I've nothing against Tony Levin-a fine musician if there ever was one ) At the same time they could remove those awful electronic drums and have Bruford record a full acoustic kit instead. Then have Rick go back in with a REAL piano instead of the poor sampled one they used........   Mix that together and I bet we would have a very decent Yes album !

Eddy Offord on ABWH. The sound on that album is bordering on unlistenable.

Squire on ABWH because, as mentioned earlier, that would have been CttE Yes

Good call, but that's mainly due to the drum sound. This is an interesting poll actually, I would have to go for Squire on ABWH. The others are interesting ideas but I certainly wouldn't replace Moraz on Gates, he did a brilliant job there.

How about Wakeman on Time and A Word as an option?

No way Squire on ABWH, I believe Levin is far a better bassist than Chris (Who is already outstanding)

I would vote Moraz in Going for the One.

At least he usually says things that make sense and add to teh discussion, unlike you who in every non-classic-prog thread only say "post 89 rock is garbage"....

I read an interview with Levin about his playing with different bands and artists. He said that when he was playing for Peter Gabriel, he was given The Lamb lies down on Broadway to listen and he was like very cool music. When he joined King Crimson he was given another album (I don't remember which) and just the same he liked it a lot. But when he was going to play for ABWH, he was given Close to the Edge, and he was just like he didn't know how the **** he was going to play the beginning to that song. He then was asked if he had liked the song, and he said he had been too worried about playing it to think wether he liked it or not. In the end he had to invent some weird techinque in order to give the song an adequate sound.
