Linkin Park sometimes has decent lyrics, especially their proggier songs in the last album "Hands Held High" and "The Little Things Give You Away"
Nickelback's are generic, AC/DC's are kinda awful (but fun maybe)
Ayreon has some of the most embarrassing and simplest lyrics I heard in prog.

AC/DC all the way, Ayreon lyrics and style of vocals all sound like Lord of the Dorks, even if it is "well done." I don't need that in my life.

Barring THE, Ayreon's lyrics are embarrassingly bad unless one compares it to power metal, then it's high-caliber. AC/DC gets my vote. Sure, all the songs are about sex, but a large number are quite witty. Nickelback and Linkin Park should be firebombed by the government for so many reasons.

I can't help but vote for Arjen, eventhough he isn't the greatest lyricist in prog, I still prefer him to the rest in this list. Which is impressive since he is not writing in his native language.

some balls are held for charity and some for fancy dress, but when they're held for pleasure they're the balls i like the best, my balls are always bouncing to the left and to the right, it's my belief that my big balls should be held every night.

I forgot to take that into account, but I still can't get behind any album's lyrics other than THE. To be fair, Arjen uses these silly fantasy/space lyrics to really talk about the human condition, so he's not as bad as I made him seem. I just wish he could find better metaphors. Jon Anderson took the out-there analogies to the limits I think.

AC/DC is actually decent, both musically and lyrically. Nice to listen to now and then.
On the day I was born the rain fell down There was trouble brewing in my home town It was the seventh day, I was the seventh son And it scared the hell out of everyone
They said stop, I said go They said fast, I said slow They said yes, I said no I do the bad boy boogie
Being a bad boy ain't that bad I've had me more dirty women than most men ever had All you women come along with me And I'll show you how good a bad boy can be
I said right and they said left I said east and they said west I said up and they said down I do the bad boy boogie all over town
That song rocks!

Linkin Park manages to write sincere teen angst poetry, though aficionados of real poetry may hate this. Voted for them...surprised about this decision...voting for LP in a Prog poll...dude...that's strange...

At least every once in a while they come up with some good lines:
A song about Hurricane Katrina.
Water grey through the windows Up the stairs Chilling rain Like an ocean Everywhere Chorus: Don't want to reach for me do you? I mean nothing to you The Little Things Give You Away And now there will be no mistaking The levees are breaking All you've ever wanted Was someone to truly look up to you And six feet / under water I do
or
With hands held high into a sky so blue as the ocean opens up to swallow you.

As the AC/DC fan I am, Im gonna vote for them. They have some really entertaining lyrics. Linkin Park's first album is OK but never cared about the lyrics, only the music. Same with Nickelback. Ayreon's lyrics tries way too hard
YES, I am serious now!
