A bit of a demographic survey... if we can draw conclusions, maybe we can explore whether ProgRock is also gender-related.

OK - I'm a woman and over 40. We're quite few here (I've counted five so far), but that doesn't bother me at all.

Im 15 and have been into prog since I was 10. Genesis and King Crimson started my prog addiction!

However, I heard Supertramp when I was 4 and Jean-Michel Jarre since I was 9, and they're still my favorite artists.

Hi and welcome, BestFreak, this is what you're looking for:

http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=703&am p;PN=1

It used to be different. When the forum was just launched, I was one of the only youngsters (I'm 19 years old myself), and the majority was over 40 years old.

Thanx, Joren... didn't know this poll was done before... and I really think the results are quite interesting, with the majority (at that time) being quite young... I guess it might have been related to internet-literacy??? In that case, the results this time may differ.

It's not just "at that time", BestFreak. The poll has been open and running since!

I fall in the 31-35 age bracket, but I've had an appreciation for prog since about age 13.

I started with The Moodies around 13 and then Dark Side around 14. I'm 15 right now.

I would say that my tastesin music are GREATLY effected by my dad and mom's music, if it weren't for them, I would be listening to this MTV/Radio crap that everyone else my age listens to.

I am 46, the correct age iif you want to have been there when it all happened (1972-73 I mean). It is the taste that you acquire in your teens that you often bring with you. And when that taste is prog, it is quality lane all the way!!!
