I'm 51. I thought this might be an interesting post, after I was noticing the responses to my thread regarding 'Are your friends into Prog...'. I noticed a few responses of people less than 20 years old. Fascinating!

I think you'll find at least half or maybe more of the regular forum members are under 20. Gives prog hope, no? I'm 17. |

I'm 18, and got into prog about a year ago. I don't see why it shouldn't be appealing to many young people.

Well prog was most popular in the 70's Thats propably because there are many old listeners to prog...because you dont hear anything about prog these days. Edited by Lindsay Lohan |

Internet use may well be a factor, I guess. More young people use the web than older. But where would they have heard prog rock in the first place? What would lead a teenager to investigate prog on the web?

Prog fans are like jazz fans... one will find them at every ages but it is obvious that those that were teen-agers during the 70s were more exposed to prog in the media and acquired a taste for the style. IMO, the great majority of people under 35 that are interested in prog were influenced by older relatives or friends or even parents. Edited by Atkingani |
