Far too many!

why don't we start with something "less", and more familiar???

Jon Lord, for instance!

Listen to Turkish psych/prog; you won't regret:
Baris Manco,Erkin Koray,Cem Karaca,Mogollar,3 Hürel,Selda,Edip Akbayram,Fikret Kizilok,Ersen (and Dadaslar) (but stick with the '70's, and 'early 80's!)

Iona are already here, and I want to point out that the 5 bands in your first "group" also appear in the long list you have there.  Also, a suggestion: instead of just giving a long list of names, give reasons why you think those bands should be regarded for conclusion.  This will probably spark more comments, and also gives people unfamiliar with the bands an idea of what they sound like.

Have a close look at our website fist, a lot of bands you mentioned are already here (Guapo, Maudlin Of The Well, Ruins... from the top of my head, maybe more).

Only DEAD CAN DANCE was familiar to me of your list.

You should ask collaborators, what they think of them. Then just start adding...

typing errors...

I don't think the Cocteau Twins should be here (they are ace though).

Balance of Power: melodic hard rock/ heavy metal with minor prog elements.
Believer: Christian prog/death, can be listed here.
Emperor: pure black metal.
Saigon Kick: I can't categorize them, similar to Alice in Chains, Mindfunk and Skid Row. An interesting band, but not prog.
Tourniquet: Christian prog/thrash, good choice
Harem Scarem: oh, this is AOR/melodic hard rock. Great band, but not prog.
Martyr, Gorguts: well, Atheist is listed here, but only one progger album among the straight death metal albums is not enough. Why didn't you suggest Morbid Angel or Terrorizer?

Guapo's prog, all right, and you should all have Five Suns in your
collection...unless you hate Magma. And how could you?

Most of the bands on Kohllapse's list I haven't even heard the names of, except for 4 or 5. But I'll counter that with two suggestions of my own:
Invisible Opera Company of Tibet
University of Errors

BaldJean and I; I am the one in blue.

Slint are Math-Rock.  Cocteau Twins are more pop than anything.  Butthole Surfers, they're not prog!!

Cocteau Twins are great, but definitely not prog.

Good effort but some are defo not prog - e.g Cocteau Twins....

Also maybe check your list first as some are defo already here

Plus it's so big it's virtually a website in itself

Great effort though, all in the name of discovering more bands - plus you stumped BaldFriede which is tantamount to impossible ....................then again that might be because it's not all prog !?

I can't remember what I said
I lost my head.
