It's surely pushing my boundaries when listening to the black metal parts. I'm not a real fan of those vocals and such - but it still has that ominous beautiful Toby creates on each album of his.

Very true. And an album like this is just so strange sounding anyway, that I detect a lot of us are keeping relatively quiet about our reactions to it until it's had time to sink in. I still don't know what to say about it, except that I'm compelled to keep listening to it. |
Yeah, it's too early to assess its value relative to anything else, but I think we have something very special here.

Choirs is in my Top 5 albums honestly. It's pretty hard to top that, i realize Toby is an actually progressive artist and tries to reinvent his music, but i wish i could have just ooooonnnneeeeeeeee more album of his that is similar to the styles of PtS and Choirs (i see them as a pairing for some reason).

Yes. Kayo Dot retains their perfect discography. Most consistently incredible band in prog history.

I don't quite know what to think at this time. Listened to the album twice today. Either totally brilliant or totally insane.

Or both? I think both, two good listens done and I think this will be my second favourite after Choirs.

First 6 tracks are enough for me to say I like this more than Choirs.

Difficult to say at this point, it's definitely better than Dowsing Anemone...., Gamma Knife and even Blue Lambency Downward, as good as that album is, but how it compares to the stunning Coyote and classic Choirs... will take time.

So far I think it's my third favorite, behind Dowsing and Coyote

What I love about this record is the shear intensity and diversity (quiet and heavy parts alike) that I never really felt since Dowsing, and Hubardo pulls off this quality better than Dowsing did. Another weird quality this album seems to have, is that it does NOT seem as long as it actually is. I was afraid the album was going to feel like it was dragging on, but in fact just the opposite is true. I think it is AOTY for me.

I'd like to see that taken down. The album is available for purchase at bandcamp, with a few songs available to stream.
I don't want to get in a file sharing debate, but c'mon, Toby Driver isn't getting wealthy off this. He's trying to cover costs and fund the making of this incredible music. If we don't support independent artists they cease to exist.
Do the right thing.
