he is a brilliant drummer, filling in for lars ulrich at last years download festival. Disasterpieces has an amazing drum solo which he plays whilst suspended upside down!

again, try and keep the slipknot talk out of this forum

Neil Peart by far- no contest. But Bruford comes in a close second and Palmer, third.

My vote went to Bruford for his mastery of time signatures and general excellence. Second i wud of said Bonham though, he always picked the best drum beats to accompany the riffs.

Anyone who thinks Portnoy is better than Peart is either deaf or daft in my opinion.Portnoy himself would tell you he is inferior to Peart...

As Arsillus so succinctly put it: Peart by far, with Bruford close behind!!!Wink

Here's a great prog drummer that I didn't see mentioned yet:

Furio Chirico

I'm glad Claudio Trotta was mentioned even though I'm not a big DeM fan.

I voted for Neil Peart. My favourites have to be:

Neil Peart
Bill Bruford
Alan White
Keith Moon
Pierre Van Der Linden

Maybe not as fast or flashy as Portnoy or Peart and the likes, but Phil Collins '70's stuff (Genesis and Brand X) is fantastic. Take his drumming on Squonk, or on Unorthodox Behaviour, and the Intruder sound he did for Peter Gabriel.
