The news are coming so fast!! Also, from Roadrunner's homepage:

Said drummer Mike Portnoy, "Hey gang. Well, we just mastered the album today, so it is now officially finished and will be in the hands of Roadrunner Records tomorrow!!"

Produced by Portnoy and guitarist John Petrucci, Systematic Chaos is Dream Theater's ninth studio album and Roadrunner debut, and will be out this summer - stay tuned for more DT news!

Well, we've discussed the album's name already... now it's time to discuss the song names!!!Big%20smileLOL From these, I can tell the album will have a dark atmosphere, coupled with intricate playing and some heaviness to it....

...I don't like the songs' titles... they sound too-megadeth-ish...LOL

hmmm!

sounds very metal to me. Not necessarily a bad thing but things look even darker than TOT judging from the titles. But one cannot judge songs on their titles so I'll just wait for this one to come out!

I wonder which one of these songs is the unending continuation of MP's AA series....?

If there is one--and I don't care if there is as long as it's a good song unlike The Glass Prison, IMO-- I'd guess Forsaken or Repentence.

Almost certainly it's Repentance, see the last part of this post to see why. The AA songs generally cover either 2 or 3 of the 12 steps, in order, if I remember correctly.

For example, The Root of All Evil covered steps 6 and 7, "Ready" and "Remove" (see the Octavarium booklet).

So, "Repentence" will probably cover steps 8, 9, and possibly 10. Maybe more if it's the long epic (do we know which is the epic yet?)

Here are the steps to see what the lyrics will probably address, assuming there is an AA song on this album (I forget if that's been confirmed or not):

8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.

10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.

I know Portnoy wants to finish the AA series before the end of Dream Theater, and I would highly doubt the absence of the next song in the series on the new album. "Repentence" sounds like the right one, though the first three songs' titles did not make such blatent references to the steps it covers.
